Dave Grohl has spoken for the first time about the Foo Fighters new album which they have been recording for the past six weeks, reports GIGWise.

The frontman says that he now can't wait to get out and play the new material live because it's so good. He told Xfm: Life is great, we've been in the studio for the past month and a half, and we've got about another month to go.

We've been recording with out friend Gil Norton (legendary Pixies producer) he worked on our second record, he's a good guy and he makes amazing albums.

So we're making a really big powerful record, which I'm very excited about and I cannot wait to finish.

I'm not saying I'm not having fun, I'm saying I can't wait to jump on stage and do this stuff, it's gonna be great.

And on the sound of the record he explained: Most bands really get off on moving in different directions, and experiencing as much as they can as musicians, I think as a musician you're constantly searching for that next high, that song that'll give you the chills or that song that sounds like a freight train.

You're constantly searching for that, you can find it; you just have to venture in all of these directions to find it.

"So the album that we're making sounds like a Foo Fighters album, but its definitely moving in a few different directions. Its cool man, I love it.

Grohl is a legend. I guess you have to see him in person to really appreciate the music talent he's got.

Sweet, I hope they stray a bit from the acoustics songs. Some are nice but To be honest I didn't like "In Your Honor" disc 2 as much as the first disc.

Foo Fighters can be so great as they were in their early years - what happened???

I love how the Foo's simply work their balls off. Ace band, and a great representation of what music should be about: Having fun, and working hard.

Could it be everybody found In Your Honor disappointing because it was 50/50 electric and acoustic?? I personally love the album but agree the first disk is better, not that I don't mind listening to the second one. Foo Fighters are one of the few bands that I get excited about when new albums are released

Yesssss!!! Foo fighters are making another album. I agree that their last album wasn't to strong though, but the fact that their working with Gil Norton insures some more faith in the next record. Can't wait!

Colour and Shape was easily their best album, and one of my favorite albums in general.

i personally thought nirvana is overrated. i mean, they're bigger now that cobain died (god rest his soul), than before when he was alive.... i mean COME ON!!! i respect them, and i like some of their stuff, but some people overdo it a bit and are obsessed with them.

i love foo fighters, but i was tragically disappointed by in your honor. i think it was an interesting concept... an acoustic side and a rock side, but i just didn't like the songs themselves as well... hopefully this next one will be better.

YES!!! Damn, can't wait for this! To follow the thread here... i can never decide.. stuff like One By One and Colour and the Shape were amazing... but In Your Honour was totally pure rock, and the acosutic stuff is amazingly relaxing!! I love it all... can't wait for this one!!!

I thought In your Honour was a good album. I loved the acousticc stuff. FF are one of my 2 favourite bands so i will deffinatly buy this CD the day it comes out. And personally i think the best album they ever did was Nothing Left Too Lose. Amazing tunes on it...

Between this news and the Spinal Tap article, I've never seen more overwhelmingly positive comments posted at once on this website. Usually half the people in the comments are bitching about how crappy the artist the article is about is.

    Revalk
Yeah, I've heard their live shows are excellent, even if In Your Honor was just okay. Should be interesting to hear this release regardless.

Cool Foo fighters are a good band, Dave is amazing though, Hes a ace drummer, guitarist and singer, i mean that guy had talent

I'm quite curious on how the album will sound.. I hope it sounds like There is Nothing Left to Lose or One by One. I liked the last one but there was a little too much filler though. I think the concept was good but the exectuion wasn't quite there. Hopefully they will release it by the end of the year and with Gil Norton producing it you know it will be good.

The last album was a step back, but the last tour was definitely a step forward. They played an amazing show here in Austin.

Think they went rapidly down hill after the utterly brilliant "Colour and the shape". But if they're working with the same producer who did that album, maybe they can re-capture the magic.

Cool, there last album was a disappointment but I'm still going to check it out. Besides, he did say they've changed their sound a little. And isn't this way cooler than bands like Metallica who make it too the front page to announce a new album months before?
