Great gift, great list too. Not a big fan of forsaken but still very awesome of them.
Better mixed than the Live at Luna Park! I liked more the songs too, nice to see The Great Debate live in good quality.
Wait what.. They actually put a torrent link in the news site? I got ****ing banned once for mentioning torrenting. I'm so excited that there's a Count of Tuscany recording though
Didn't work just downloaded a file that was incompatible with anything.
They come in FLAC files. Just convert them or go find the MP3's online, they are out there.
or use VLC to play them. Actually, Windows Media Player plays them for me. I must have some kind of codec installed.
Serious question - what purpose do FLAC files actually serve? They're bigger than MP3s and do not work on programs like iTunes. They have only caused inconviniences for me.
MP3s are smaller and more universal, but they're compressed pretty heavily. That just means some of the sound is cut out in the process for the sake of smaller files. While this isn't noticeable to most people, some prefer uncompressed FLAC files, which are CD quality.
Am I the only one who thinks even CD's sound like shit? Give me a turntable and quality needle any day!!
True, but to my ears, the difference between flac and mp3 is unnoticeable, especially if you have a good sound system. it should sound good either way.
It's with a good sound system that the difference DOES become noticeable.
When you say that ... for sure you don't have a good system or you are deft .
Flawless lossless audio codec. No compression so you have no fuzz and don't lose any of the data while converting from a CD to a digital format. High quality speakers will most undoubtedly pick up imperfections in mp3 files and to those with hearing not destroyed by years of clubbing and concert going, it will sound different to the way in which it was originally recorded. I now only use flac files for my PC and convert them to mp3 (320mbp to limit the compression) myself for playing in my car and on my phone which doubles as an mp3 player. All you need is a codec for your media player to play flac files and it's not too hard to do a search on the interwebs to find one.
Flac is lossless audio, aka, how the sound was intended to sound. The comparison would be that flac is to bluray as mp3 is to laserdisc or vhs.
Sounds like they didn't bother to mix these recordings, just a 2trak recording off the board. Probably why they're free.
They were mixed but mixing doesn't fix something that was recorded poorly. A stage is very different from a controlled studio so it takes a great deal of extra effort (and money) to get everything ready with the intention of recording.
