Fall Out Boy have unveiled the artwork for their forthcoming new album, "Save Rock And Roll", which is released on April 15.
The cover image shot by photographer Roger Stonehouse features a "punk and monk". The band have said that the artwork reflects the idea behind the album, which represents "the idea of old and new clashing. Tradition and change coming together". In a statement posted on the band's Tumblr (via NME), they said:
When we were beginning the journey of making this record we wanted to find some inspirational images. We came across the punk and monk image on the internet and it really solidified what we were trying to get across on the record - the idea of old and new clashing. Tradition and change coming together. There was something striking about it.
They continue: "Obviously this is an image that means a lot to many people - we felt like we wanted to be part of this conversation. These kids represent the youth, change and irreverence that we hope our record is listened to with. At the end of the day we just want to take the rules and start all over with 'Save Rock and Roll' anyway."
Pete Wentz of the band recently revealed that he "didn't think people would care" about Fall Out Boy reuniting after a four-year hiatus.
Wentz admitted that he expected no one to turn up to the band's first show in Chicago. "When we got on stage in Chicago, it was crazy," he told MTV News. "It was a rush, because we honestly didn't think people would care, and that's the truth. But it felt like we didn't miss a beat."
Wentz added that he was worried how to act onstage but said he's come to terms with the changes in the band's dynamic, saying it's "cool to do Fall Out Boy as Fall Out Men".
Fall Out Boy recently performed at SXSW in Austin, Texas. They played a 40 minute long hit-packed set, which included "Dance, Dance", "Sugar, We're Goin' Down" and "I Slept With Someone In Fall Out Boy And All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me".
