Fall Out Boy Unveil 'Save Rock And Roll' Album Artwork Featuring A 'Punk And Monk'

Fall Out Boy have unveiled the artwork for their forthcoming new album, "Save Rock And Roll", which is released on April 15. The cover image shot by photographer Roger Stonehouse features a "punk and monk". The band have said that the artwork reflects the idea behind the album, which represents "the idea of old and new clashing. Tradition and change coming together". In a statement posted on the band's Tumblr (via NME), they said: When we were beginning the journey of making this record we wanted to find some inspirational images. We came across the punk and monk image on the internet and it really solidified what we were trying to get across on the record - the idea of old and new clashing. Tradition and change coming together. There was something striking about it. They continue: "Obviously this is an image that means a lot to many people - we felt like we wanted to be part of this conversation. These kids represent the youth, change and irreverence that we hope our record is listened to with. At the end of the day we just want to take the rules and start all over with 'Save Rock and Roll' anyway." Pete Wentz of the band recently revealed that he "didn't think people would care" about Fall Out Boy reuniting after a four-year hiatus. Wentz admitted that he expected no one to turn up to the band's first show in Chicago. "When we got on stage in Chicago, it was crazy," he told MTV News. "It was a rush, because we honestly didn't think people would care, and that's the truth. But it felt like we didn't miss a beat." Wentz added that he was worried how to act onstage but said he's come to terms with the changes in the band's dynamic, saying it's "cool to do Fall Out Boy as Fall Out Men". Fall Out Boy recently performed at SXSW in Austin, Texas. They played a 40 minute long hit-packed set, which included "Dance, Dance", "Sugar, We're Goin' Down" and "I Slept With Someone In Fall Out Boy And All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me".

I don't think FOB deserve ALL the hate they get. Not really a fan but their music isnt as terrible as everyone claims.

True. I am a fan of the band, and I absolutely hated the last song they released, and wasn't a huge fan of their previous album. Still, they have had many good songs over the years. Say what you will about them as a band, but Andy Hurley is a pretty solid drummer, and Patrick Stump is a very talented guy. Not only does he sing and play guitar, but he also plays piano and produces albums. Saying they are the worst thing ever, and that they are destroying rock and roll is just silly. There are much worse bands out there.

Agreed. I don't really understand why people hate them so damn much. I can happily say that I am excited as FUCK to see them in May.

I'm pretty sure they're not actually trying to save rock n roll, it's just a dumb, hipster-irony thing. People need to stop slating it as if it's a serious sentiment. There are plenty of other valid reasons to diss this band without just saying "omg they suck they're not even rock" or whatever... Then again, maybe they are serious and I'm just too open-minded. If so please gangblow a goat, FOB.

They're killing it. Not saving it.

I was thinking no one really read this article for any reason but to bash fall out boy and UG... Sounds good to me

See, I think "Save Rock and Roll" is more like a cry to other bands for help. Like, the best they can do is get some rock tunes played on pop radio stations.

"We came across the punk and monk image on the internet" Pretty much sums it up, doesn't it?

I really don't understand why UG hates them so much. Granted, I wasn't to fond of their new single but overall I think they are a great band and they are living the dream, getting paid to make music. I do miss their old punk sound but people to know not to take the album title seriously, they aren't rock and roll, obviously but rock and roll to them means doing something against the norm, and I think they are doing just that. Thumb me down if you wish, but just my 2 cents.

I like them, but then again I like good and bad music. Though people should realize their not literally stating that their saving rock and roll withe title

I wish people would stop slating this band in FOB news comment sections because they personally don't like them. If you don't like a band why look on the page in the first place? Personally I think they are a good band with talented members (with your own point of view on Pete Wentz lyrics.) People are slating this album before it's been released and it's clearly a tongue in cheek album title. If you don't like it move on, a lot of people do.

It's one of those things. They were really popular when they first got big and then people started hating them for no real reason (though Pete Wentz didn't help much) While I wasn't a big fan of their last couple of albums I certainly don't hate them. But I have friends who used to pretty much worship them and now they act like they never liked them in the first place, just so they can be cool by hating them. It tends to happen a lot in music. Band makes break through everyone loves their first album or two, those who don't like it will tend to just leave them alone and don't listen to them. Then it suddenly becomes cool to hate on them and every bit of news about them becomes the same old hate spreading. Then you get the people who can only listen to one type of music and everything else is shit or gay. Metal only fans tend to be the worst for this sort of behavior. I had one friend who only listens to metal say bands like fallout boy are "Full of gay faggots" the irony was one of his favorite bands is Judas Priest (Rob Halford of which is gay) My point being, you don't have to dress up in thrift shop clothing and wear them daft glasses to be a hipster. Hipsters existed long before the term was coined and many A lot of people who hate hipsters are likely hipsters themselves.

I don't like them, and they CERTAINLY are not saving rock and roll, they never will. That job is up to Alice in Chains, Black Sabbath, Megadeth, etc. There's many bands that are better than fall out boy.

They have some decent songs...but that last one that came out...my god that was horrible.

Oh, wait. The album is actually called 'Save Rock And Roll'? ... ...I... I... You know what? I'll just sigh.

As long as i live there is no need to save rock n roll. If you are reading this then you probably noticed that i am a mother****ing badass.

Im more upset that we won't get more The Damned Things now. If they want to save rock and roll the drummer and guitarist should stay in their actually good rock band
