After releasing the critically-acclaimed Embryonic earlier this year, The Flaming Lips have more new material up their sleeve. On December 22, the group will release The Flaming Lips and Stardeath and White Dwarfs with Henry Rollins and Peaches Ding the Dark Side Of The Moon. The record is said to feature The Flaming Lips and special guests as the disc is their best attempt at recreating Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon. The release is digital-only and will be available on iTunes on December 22 and other Internet retailers on December 29. The Flaming Lips and Stardeath And White Dwarfs will perform the new album on New Year's Eve at the Cox Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.     I really don't like it at all. I was expecting a closer replication of the album, seeing as how they say its their "best attempt at recreating" it. They butchered "Time", on of my favorite Floyd songs. The only track I really liked was their version of "Any Colour You Like".

    ^yeah, I like The Flaming Lips but they fail here. It sounds like an 80's hipster version of Dark Side. I'm listening to Brain Damage right now and the fuzz bass is making me chuckle.

    and sorry to double post, but I want to clarify that its not that I wanted them to do a note-by-note rendition or anything; The Flaming Lips sound just does not work with Dark Side.
