Green Day will release two documentaries to coincide with their forthcoming trio of albums, "Uno! Dos! Tre!".
One will document the making of their new album trilogy, and will be produced by Tim Lynch who made the "Green Day: Bullet In A Bible" film. The second will feature archive footage of the band during their pre-"Dookie" days, according to Billboard.
Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong says the filmmakers wanted footage of the band in action rather than conducting long introspective interviews.
"It's not going to be the sitting down, head shot of me going, 'We started out blah blah blah'," he said. "We wanted to get into lifestyles of rock 'n' roll and playing rock n roll and letting the story kind of tell itself rather than create revisionist (history)."
Filming continues while the band prepare for Japanese and European festival dates over the summer.
The making-of film is expected to be released in time for next year's Sundance Film Festival. The first single from their upcoming album trilogy, "Oh Love", will be released on July 16.
