Finish love metallers HIM have officially unveiled a video for their upcoming release "Tears On Tape" title track. You can check out the clip in an exclusive Noisecreep stream or head over to iTunes and pre-order the entire record.
As the group's eight studio effort, "Tears on Tape" is set for an April 26 release in Finland, arriving to the rest of Europe and US on April 29 and April 30, respectively. The latest video was directed by Stefan Lindfors, who has previously worked with the band on their classic "Funeral Of Hearts" video back in 2003. In a recent interview on Artist Direct, frontman Ville Valo described the album as "Dario Argento's 'Suspiria' meeting Bill Murray's 'The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou,'" adding that "Tears on Tape" is "cinematic, odd, left-of-center, and funny," but also "scary, brooding and dark" at the same time.
"The more cinematic it is, the better. It's about visuals in general. It's about photography. It's about paintings. When you're not too specific with the lyrics, it enables the imagination to do some of the work. I suppose you have to draw the lines between 'A' and 'B' with everything given to you from the get-go. That's important when it comes to music. It's like you're painting with feedback."
The band currently has about 20 concert dates ahead of them, including a 6-date US tour at the beginning of May. Their previous release, "Screamworks: Love in Theory and Practice," came out back in February 2010, ultimately spending four weeks at No. 25 on The Billboard 200 chart.
