Incubus guitarist Michael Einziger has revealed that he is working on the new Pearl Jam album. Einziger tweeted about his involvement yesterday (20th March), posting a photo from the session along with the following: "In the studio with my girl and Eddie Vedder, recording strings for Pearl Jam's new album."

Speaking about the new Pearl Jam record, guitarist Mike McCready has described it as a cross between punk rock and Pink Floyd:

"I would say as a cliché answer it's kind of a logical extension of what 'Backspacer' was," says McCready, "but I think there's a little bit more experimental stuff going on. There's a Pink Floyd vibe to some of it, there's a punk rock edge to other stuff."

McCready also revealed that the band has finished seven songs, and is working on 15 more. The album is being produced by the band's long time collaborator Brendan O'Brien.

Meanwhile, McCready has formed an as-yet unnamed supergroup with Guns N' Roses bassist Duff McKagan and Screaming Trees drummer Barrett Martin.

You obviously didnt give it a good go. They experimented and it worked fantastically, imo, for the most part Amongst The Waves The Fixer The End Just Breathe Unthought Known you cant have an album with those songs and tell me its bad
I like these songs, but literally, to me, the rest are the bands worst output. Been a PJ fan since the beginning with these guys and I expect good stuff from them in the future, but Backspace was a low point in their career.
I didn't like it either aside from a few songs but that doesn't make it shit.
This may be one of PJ's best album then. If Einziger is able to make you feel the music like he does in Incubus, this album is going to rock. Can't wait to hear it!
Backspacer was bad. Them at their laziest. Couple shining moments but mostly fill no kill.
It wasn't what you expected basically? When the FUCK have Pearl Jam been about putting out stuff people want to hear? This was the first record they didn't have an agenda on, no politics, nothing. Just music they wanted to make.
Dipshit, I just didn't like it.
then why not just say that and not claim they are at their laziest, did you really think taking a swipe at arguably the hardest working band in rock was going to get no response?
Considering the kind of d bag you appear to be, im glad you didnt like it, "dipshit".
as yet unknown supergroup? they are called "walking papers" and the album is out there already! not bad musically but vocals are buried due to weakness. if they had a strong vocal presence it would rock.
Mike McCready is awesome! I could listen to him tuning his guitar or playing an elastic band.
