Jack White Recording New Songs With The Dead Weather

The Dead Weather are currently working on new songs, NME reports. According to a tweet from Third Man Records, the band is currently in the studio at Third Man HQ in Nashville. The tweet - which included a new photo of the group - was sent out earlier this week, and read:
The Dead Weather lineup consists of Jack White himself, Alison Mosshart of The Kills, Dean Fertita of Queens Of The Stone Age and Jack Lawrence of The Greenhornes and The Raconteurs. They released their debut album, "Horehound," in 2009 and followed it with "Sea of Cowards" a year later. Jack White spoke earlier in the year about recording new material with both The Dead Weather and The Raconteurs. The prolific songwriter, who released his debut solo album "Blunderbuss" in 2012, in his Q&A session with Rolling Stone and said: "We all live in Nashville now. All The Raconteurs and all The Dead Weather live in Nashville now, so we often go on trips together, because we're all just good pals. We've recorded some things, too. And Brendan [Benson] and The Raconteurs just built a new studio right in town, so it's a lot of great inspiration going around." White also confirmed that he was working on new solo material. "I've got about 20 to 25 tracks I'm working on right now," he said. "A lot of songs. So it's a good time for writing for me. I just want to write and bring the Buzzards and Peacocks [his solo project backing bands] in and work on some things, and work on the things with no intention of what it's going to be. No competition between the bands. People just keep writing and recording until I decide what it's going to be. And I haven't decided yet, so." Pushed on what the new solo songs sound like, Jack White added: "It's definitely not one sound. It's definitely several. Like you heard in 'Blunderbuss', there's many different styles there. I don't pick my style and then write a song. I just write whatever comes out of me, and whatever style it is is what it is, and it becomes something later."

Lot of respect for Jack White, good artist. Would like to hear what the new stuff sounds like.

Jack White is a busy mtherfcker. I'd love to see him and Dave Grohl get together.

    That would be pretty interesting.

If and only if Dave sat by the side and played drums.
    Jesus_Dean
Jack White on guitar/vox, Dave Grohl beating the livin bejeezus outta the drums...but who's on bass?

Geezer Butler or Flea. Imagine Geezer playing with Grohl and White. WOW.

I was thinking more of Rob Trujillo or Duff McKagen.

At the fear of having too much awesome collect in the same room and imploding the universe, I'd have to say Lemmy.

Imagine: Flea, Grohl, and White all in one band, it'd be a creation of a genre called Slappyblue Grunge

Flea is a funk bassist, he wouldn't fit the billing for White and Grohl's music. You would want a much heavier bassist for this.
    Vinhair
Flea, Geddy Lee or (I know most of you would disagree) Krist Novoselic

I think John Paul Jones would suit that duo better, and he has played with both Dave (Them crooked vultures) and with Jack (Seasick Steve - search on youtube) before, on different occasions.

idk what many would think of this.. and only because hes not part of anything major... but about Nick Oliveri?

So we got Jack White, Dave Grohl, Lemmy Killmeister, backup guitar Slash? Or to even things out Dave's friend Jack Black.

OHHH YES! FINALLY! If I wont hear TCV anytime soon, at least I`ll have another fix of The Dead Weather! Brilliant band and songs.Love `em! edit: however I dont think we`ll hear something soon - Fertita has QoTSA tour and that will keep him busy for a while. I say March 2014.*fingers crossed for double album*

I honestly only think Alison and Jack are in the studio right now. Like you said Fertita is on tour with QOTSA right now and Lawrence is on tour with City and Colour. So who knows...

Great News! Oddly enough, I think I actually prefer the Dead Weather to Raconteurs, Jack White solo, AND the later White Stripes stuff (even though all of them are awesome).

Awesome! The DW are probably THE best band on the planet in the last 10 years. So much artistic chemistry.

Alison Mosshart is a genius song writer as well. I can't wait to see what she spits up...

So the racontuers, dead weather and jack white solo could all have new music? Could they do a tour with all 3 bands? That would be incredible!
    fatgleeson
as good as that would be, he would probably die having to play 3 gigs a night

This is awesome. I def can't wait, both the Raconteurs and the Dead Weather made great songs that I found to be different and unique.
    bangbang!!
I don't get the Dead Weather, sadly. I love White Stripes, Jack's solo material, and ESPECIALLY the Raconteurs, but... I just can't seem to get behind the Dead Weather stuff.
    Diverdown5544
That's makes absolutely no logical sense.

It actually makes a lot of sense. The Dead Weather are really out there, while everything else Jack White has done is more grounded. I like some Dead Weather songs, but some of it's just too odd for me. I didn't like the second album and songs like "I'm Mad" are just too bizarre. Jack White is however one of my favorite musicians and I'll always be willing to listen to his new releases. I just don't quite get the hype surrounding the Dead Weather.

I`m Mad is my favourite song of The Dead Weather! Fertita is just going crazy on synth on that one.Love those waveforms.

It just takes a bit of time. When I first got the album I wondered what I was listening to but all of their songs are great.

an absolute perfect statement! I did dig horehound but could not get into sea of cowards at all.

Month old news, but Good news is always good. Dean Fertita for guitarist of the year, I guess.

Aweeeeesome! Would prefer it if he does a new Raconteurs-LP. Fu--in' love that Band!

Sea of Cowards is one of the best produced rock albums in a long time. Even if you think it's strange, it sounds great. The new Queens record gives it a run for its money production wise. Looking forward to anything new Jack White wise.

This is probably the Jack White project I'm the least familiar with. I'll have to look into them more in the meantime!
