Sweet. I used to be into loads of pop punk when I was a teenager but kinda found other things and I don't like it now, but I can always come back to Jimmy Eat World

Yeah you know when I was in my late teens/early 20's I sort of put up a barrier between me and pop punk even though I grew up on the stuff. But now as Im on the back end of those years I've thought screw it, its simple, fun, catchy and fits perfectly when the suns out. I guess genre elitism dissolves as you get a bit older, maybe I was later than most... Enjoying this album though, may dust off a few of their old cd's and have a listen.

It is interesting how we grow out of music, but JEW is great in making their pop punk distinct. Always a joy to listen to.

The reason Jimmy Eat World is so great besides their excellent musicianship and catchiness is the exceptional quality of their lyrics. They avoid cliches and write words that seem to reach you through different stages of your life. They are the "pop-punk" band that matured along with you. Take the song "Kill" for instance that ends with: "So go on love, leave while there's still hope for escape. You gotta take what you can these days. There's so much ahead and so much regret. I know what you want to say, I know it but can't help feeling differently. I loved you and I should have said it. Tell me just what has it ever meant? I can't help it baby this is who I am. Sorry but I can't just go turn off how I feel. You kill me you build me up but just to watch me break, hey hey, I know what I should do but I just can't walk away." Perfection. Cannot wait for their new album!!!

It's not bad, just seems a bit bland. This band is capable of much better, I really miss the dynamics they exhibited on "Futures."

I'll be the first to admit that JEW aren't the most talented musicians, and most of their songs are rather simple. But there's just something great about their simplicity. They seem like really down to earth people who just really enjoy making exactly the kind of music they want to make. Looking forward to the new album.

Last time I saw a Jimmy eat world article, I remember people writing very sour negative comments on how the band sucked - now the community is loving it? Dafuq UG-community? Also, I remain neutral around Jimmy Eat World, since I'm not really a pop-punk fan...
