Joe Satriani Streaming Entire New Record 'Unstoppable Momentum'
Guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani has decided to give fans a full preview of his upcoming record "Unstoppable Momentum," previously announced for May's release via Epic Records. You can check it out exclusively over at MSN Music's Listening Booth. As his 14th studio album, "Unstoppable Momentum" was recorded at Bay Area's Skywalker Sound over the course of what Satriani himself described as "very prolific and cathartic two months." The record also features Vinnie Colauita (Sting, Jeff Beck) on drums, Chris Chaney (Jane's Addiction) on bass and Mike Keneally (Dethklok) on keyboards. Production duties were handled by Satriani and Mike Fraser (AC/DC). Prior to the official streaming, the album was announced with the release of "A Door Into Summer" music video, which sees Satriani and the band making their way into the studio mentioned beforehand. With all 11 songs "heading in different directions and touching on a variety of musical influences," Satriani ultimately expressed nothing but utter satisfaction with the group he assembled and energy they delivered. "The idea was to crank up the energy level of the sessions, and allow for more individual expression of the material from each player," the axeman said. "The chemistry with Mike, Chris and Vinnie was fantastic and we blazed through all of the tracks with everyone laying down amazing performances." The latest Satriani record, "Black Swans and Wormhole Wizards," saw its release back in October 2010, also via Epic Records. "Unstoppable Momentum" tracklist: 01. Unstoppable Momentum 02. Can't Go Back 03. Lies and Truths 04. Three Sheets to the Wind 05. I'll Put a Stone in Your Cairn 06. A Door Into Summer 07. Shine On American Dreamer 08. Jumpin' In 09. Jumpin' Out 10. The Weight of the World 11. A Celebration
