John sends out an official e-mail confirming the release date and information on two new releases.

John Frusciante's 'Progressive Synth Pop' Projects

John Frusciante sent out an official e-mail saying that his next release, an EP entitled "Letur Lefr", will be released this summer in Japan on July 4th, in North America on July 17th, and the rest of the world on July 16th. It will be released on many different formats, including cassette and digital download. Fans had been divided over whether John's post-Red Hot Chili Peppers releases would ever see the light of day. The EP will have five tracks on it. This EP release was confirmed earlier by Frusciante fansite Invisible-Movement. The real news in the e-mail was about the LP titled "PBX Funicular Intaglio Zone", which will be released on September 12th in Japan, September 25th in North America and September 24th everywhere else. The e-mail itself as stated: "I consider my music to be Progressive Synth Pop, which says nothing about what it sounds like, but does describe my basic approach. I combine aspects of many styles of music and create my own musical forms by way of electronic instruments." John's official website now has a pre-order for the releases. Thanks for the report to JohnFrusciante.com and Invisible-Movement.net.

By some strange coincidence, I read this while listening to Autobahn by Kraftwerk...this could be interesting. I do miss him in the RHCP though.

I have accepted John quitting RHCP after seeing them live early may with Josh, who was amazing. And I can honestly not wait for these records, his music seems to keep getting better. The Empyrean for me was on a whole other worldly experience. Was excited when I seen this on twitter.

It's opinion and all, but since you don't care about RHCP since he left I guess you haven't seen how well Josh is doing at complimenting Flea.

Agreed. Froosh quitting RHCP to make "Progressive Synth Pop" is like when Michael Jordan quit the Chicago Bulls after 3 championships to play minor league baseball. It's their lives to do what they want, but it's such a waste of talent. I don't mean to knock his new music, but for every synth he messes with is one less strat he's twisting into a knot

A lot of people don't seem to realise that he's already some proggy-synthy stuff on his solo records. The track Sphere from Sphere In The Heart Of Silence sounds like the sort of thing you'd here on a Jean-Michele Jarre or Tangerine Dream album. The man doesn't need to batter a Strat to make good music, people!

If it's half as good as Empyrean... It was the first time I gave his solo work a chance, and was skeptical. These few years later and it still blows me away. It's one of those albums that gets better with each listen.

Im very hyped about this, i loved the Sphere in the heart of silence LP and sounds like he could be returning to that direction. Actually i love every LP (except for the first couple of insane albums) from Frusciante. After a couple of listens im starting to appreciate the new RHCP more and more, i like how Josh fits into the mix. Dont really mind that Frusciante is out, that gives him more time to work on his amazing solo career.

"Progressive synth pop" sounds really weird, but I'm not worried at all, since I love synths, electronic music and every single thing Frusciante put out until this day.

But he has been making solo music since the 90's. He even had synth based music in the past. So it's not like this is a shock, or surprise.

Such a talented man that can do so much, good to see he's making more albums and taking his musical experiences to new heights.

[quote]ziggy821 wrote: the electronic instruments he uses includes strats quote] I was complaining about him ditching his 6-string for a synthesizer. Not all electronic instruments in general. Thank you though for being so clever to let us all know that an electric guitar is an electronic instrument.... Anyways, I checked out the Empyrean today, and it was insanely awesome. Way better than I expected after hearing some of his earlier 90's solo albums when he was all screwed up on junk

He is a big fan of bands like New Order so it's no shock that he would want to move this way musically.
