Josh Homme has revealed that he is itching to record a new album with the latest incarnation of Queens Of The Stone Age. The band now sport a line up that includes Michael Shuman (Wies On Fire) and Dean Fertita (The Raconteurs) plus Joey Castillo and Troy Van Leeuwen who joined in 2002. The band are about to embark on a long period of live dates across North America and into Europe. However, Homme told Billboard: "The other night we were up 'til six in the morning, all of us playing guitar. "Queens sounds better than it ever has live but we're trying to figure out how to tour and how to (write and record) Cause I think for everyone right now the idea of creating something is even more enticing than going on the road. This line up feels like we could basically blow through a whole record quick." Homme says that the quintet may release an EP or two before unleashing a full length album although he is unsure if Interscope will be pleased with that idea after they turned down the release of an 'Era Vulgaris' outtakes record. He added: "The difficult thing is to bend other people to your will. Songs need to have a home. If you just record them, they've got no destination, no home." Elsewhere Homme says he has definite plans for a QOTSA tour DVD and live album while some songs are being rewritten to best fit the current line up. Thanks for the info to Gigwise.com.

I miss Nick alot in this band, he was the counterbalance to Josh Homme, now it feels more like The Josh Homme Experience with his musical friends. That being said, I love QotSA, new and old, and they are one of the only shining prospects in the future of music right now.

Era vulgaris has got to be listening to a few times to be fully appreciated, I'm so psyched for the U.K tour as they're coming to my hometown!

Why don't they self release the songs the label won't let them release? Radiohead did it with their new album because they were unsigned, so Josh Homme can't say they can't find a way to release songs if the label won't let them do it through the the label.

Well QOTSA has always technically been his project, hence him playing nearly everything on the self titled album.

you cant just self release things man, They signed a contract with interscope, so interescope basically owns them until they full fill there end of the contract. This isnt the first time Josh has knocked interscope.

Yeah, they suck. That's why I'm here, because I hate the band that I'm commenting on. Yeah, that's right, I read the article and I still don't like them. I'm a rebel man. Anarchy and shit! Era Vulgaris took time to grow, but I really like it. I'm still not a big fan of Lullabyes though. Homme's got killer attitude - just keep writing and don't slow down. The more breaks you take in between writing, the harder it it to write good music I feel.

FUCK YES the only band as good or better than them is tool. everyone else looks bad in comparison. QOTSA RULES

But i did hear Nick is going to be involved with the next Desert Sessions... whenever the hell thats going to be.
Yeah but is that wife beating thing true or not? Josh said that's what he heard but he couldn't prove it. And Mondo Generator is a good band, they played at ozzfest this year but I think they either got dropped or they left their record label because of poor album sales or something like that. And Josh Hommes is the man. I think him and Jack White are the two greatest mainstream musicians of today. They both write great riffs. And if you're a big fan of Josh then also check out kyuss and the eagles of deat metal.

Era Vulgaris almost made me want to give up writing, it's soooo f***ing good! But it will be intersting to hear what the new guys bring to the party, and also how they play the old stuff.

Didnt they just release an album....not too long ago? Pretty cool band, never really been to into them.

I saw QOTSA this past week in Toronto (at the Sony Centre). I have to say, they were one of the most comfortable bands I've ever seen. They were definitely in control of the show. Josh was chatty and took requests from the first few rows. It's clear they are all comfortable with the material, and could probably play anything in the QOTSA catalog at the drop of a hat. Very professional. I get the impression from most bands that they rehearse simply their set list. My only two complaints: 1) The opening band was terrible. Navel gazers and lollygaggers. No one likes to be rude, but they were rightfully booed off stage. 2) It felt like QOTSA played everything a little fast. It was hard to feel the "groove" that really ties the Queens songs together. I'm not sure it was conscious effort, or if the drummer was still finding his place. I definitely recommend seeing them live. Hopefully they get that "groove" back as they get more comfortable with each other.

That is so not true. And if you think Josh comes up with junk guitar riffs then listen to his former band kyuss. The riffs he came up with in that band were unbelievable.

I really hope this happens!! It'd be kickass, to see a new album so soon after Era Vulgaris. I want an EP or two, and then I want an album! Come onnnnn Interscope!

Josh Homme and company. They still make good music though. They've been changing line-ups since they started.
Megadeth has always been Mustaines band since the very beginning and the same goes to Homme with QOTSA. You can also say the same about Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters and Trent Reznor with NIN. But as long as these bands are still putting out great music then we shouldn't be complaining uch about the lineup changes. If you ask me it's better to have lineup changes then to not play at all.

jeezus already? whatever, I liked Lullabies better but Era Vulgaris grows on you. Misfit Love is my favorite

Wasn't there meant to be a bunch of b-sides and whatnot with the "Make It Wit U" single? Meh, I dunno. Love The Queens though. One thing I have noticed though, QOTSA are (In my opinion) the only band that have truly grown on me, especially with Era Vulgaris. To begin with, I really didn't get into "Into the Hollow", "River In the Road", and maybe "Broken Box" and forgive me, "Song For The Dead"... but they ALL grew on me. Every single song, (No matter who was on it) has its home. I say bring on some more. Love the new bassist, by the way. Homme is Jesus.

they definitely need a new album fast. The last one totally disappointed me. I mean hear the other ones. What the hell happened?

Yes! I hope its like early in the new year. Bands take too long to release albums these days. John Frusciante did 6 albums in 6 months and they were ALL awesome in their own way so i dont see why other bands dont do it.

I'm going to give Era Vulgaris a second chance. I didn't like it. Maybe now I will.
definitely; you have to listen to that album more than once. By the middle of the 2nd listen I was hooked.

Or for beating his wife maybe? Yeah... I'm going to give Era Vulgaris a second chance. I didn't like it. Maybe now I will.
