Heavy metal icons reveal new details regarding the "Epitaph" live DVD release.

Judas Priest Reveal New Live Album Cover and Release Date
29
Metal pioneers Judas Priest have officially announced May 28 as the release date of their forthcoming live DVD release. Titled "Epitaph," the record will celebrate 40 years of "heavy metal dominance" with a total of 23 live tracks recorded on the closing night of the group's latest and final world tour. As a unique overview of the metal icons' career, the album will feature at least one track from each of 14 Judas Priest classic releases from 1974 to 2008. "Heavy metal historians will regard 'Epitaph' as the most far-reaching live concert recording in the band's career. The set revisits the climactic closing date of the 50-week "Epitaph World Tour," captured live at Londons HMV Hammersmith Apollo on May 26, 2012. Adding to the drama is the fact that this was Judas Priest's final large-scale world tour ever. Epitaph's 23 tracks represent at least one song from every one of the band's 14 studio albums, from 1974's "Rocka Rolla" ("Never Satisfied") to 2008's "Nostradamus" ("Prophecy"), says the announcement on the band's official website. As far as the new material goes, the five-piece is currently busy working in the studio, and judging by the latest update, "all is going really well." As a follow up to 2008's "Nostradamus," the new release will also be the first one to feature guitarist Richie Faulkner. You can check out the "Epitaph" track list below. 01. Battle Hymn 02. Rapid Fire 03. Metal Gods 04. Heading Out To The Highway 05. Judas Rising 06. Starbreaker 07. Victim Of Changes 08. Never Satisfied 09. Diamonds And Rust 10. Prophecy 11. Night Crawler 12. Turbo Lover 13. Beyond The Realms Of Death 14. The Sentinel 15. Blood Red Skies 16. The Green Manalishi (With The Two-Pronged Crown) 17. Breaking the Law 18. Painkiller 19. The Hellion 20. Anything relating to Judas Priest is something that I must have. HAIL THE METAL GODS!

They've been great this tour, and even without KK I'll be really glad to grab a properly recorded version of this set. Absolutely great choices of songs too.

Saw them at High Voltage 2011, I'm not the biggest heavy metal fan but this was without a doubt the best show I've ever seen.

That setlist is surprisingly solid... Maybe I'll go get this DVD, seems great!

I would love to see a show/tour where they play songs that are not as famous but as good like Leaher Rebel or Hard As Iron...

Funny how they cut Painkiller right before the "vocals" come in Still I have fond memories from that tour

Saw them in June 2011 and I expected them to be good, but they were pretty great. Richie did an awesome job and it was just a great history-spanning all inclusive priest set. And the next day I went to see Iron Maiden (front row) and caught Steve Harris's wristband....imagine what day three felt like.

I love Judas Priest and all, but I hate how they pretend that the Ripper Owens era never existed. Say what you like about that era but they did record two albums with him, bringing their album count up to 16, not 14...
    Way Cool JR.
Coming from a big Priest fan, I also try hard to pretend the Ripper era never existed. So I don't blame them one bit.

And coming from another big Priest fan I also try hard to pretend the Ripper era never existed. Anyway, I was there at the front. Awesome Band. Awesome show.

Why is that? I'm not much of a Priest fan, but from what I've heard him sing, he's one beast of a singer.

Technical skill doesn't automatically create good material. The two things do not go hand in hand. Unfortunately for the Ripper era, technical skill can't make up for a lack of quality material quite as well as quality material can make up for a lack of technical skill.

Most ppl blame Ripper, but it was Glenn Tipton who composed most of the material in that era. I still don't understand why they switched to an "american" metal style during that period, they should have sticked to the classic sound. Still I find Jugulator to be a pretty good album, can't say the same for Demolition though.

All I'm really trying to say is, if they didn't want to play Ripper songs they should have advertised it as "at least one song from 14 of the band's 16 studio albums" or "at least one song from every one of the band's 14 studio albums with Rob Halford" I'm personally a fan of the Ripper stuff myself, but I'm not going to go on criticising anyone for thinking otherwise...

Bluray? Also, no MTV quick cuts please. This is an older band with an older fanbase, one that wants long shots on each member.

The song list is spot on. All the classics you would want to hear and some hidden gems tossed in too. I wouldn't mind another song off of Angel of Retribution though, I thought it was a great record. Definitely going to pick it up, you can never have enough Priest.

Saw them at Manchester on this tour. Best show I've been to! Band was great and the audience was loving it too! I'll definitely buy this DVD!

I got the chance to finally see Priest on this tour, I remember shedding a tear or two while singing Blood Red Skies it was an amazing show, but I can't help the feeling that Halford is singing better with his solo band rather than Priest lately.

I was at their second to last show, stood front row and Richie was aiming picks at my heads. Had fun with him al night.

Extremely disappointed that I missed them on that last tour. I really hope they change their minds and continue to tour.
    Way Cool JR.
I would love to see at-least one more song from the "Turbo" and "Ram It Down" albums. I won't complain because it is a great set list and JP just fricken rocks.
    Chronologo
I agree with Ram It Down, but Turbo is the worst Priest album along with Demolition, the only song I liked from that was Reckless.
    Way Cool JR.
I find Turbo to be one of their best albums myself. I have been rockin this album since '86 and I'm still loving it today. Locked In, Out In The Cold, Hot For Love, Reckless and Turbo Lover are my top picks from it. I just don't understand JP fans that don't like Turbo. Some of their best guitar work is on it and I also really enjoy the lyrics. Different strokes for different folks I guess. When Ram It Down came out it set the standard in heavy metal for me. To me that album is the epitome of heavy metal. It still blows me away to this day.
    K33nbl4d3
Just my opinion, but the way I see it Turbo was a bad album with good songs, if that makes sense. The way it was put together took away from the heaviness of the songs themselves. For example Locked In. On the album it sounded alright, but live it was absolutely awesome. Dunno if anyone agrees with me, but that's how I see it.
    Chronologo
Yeah, there were some songs like Locked In that live worked great. Still for me my favourite Priest album is Defenders Of The Faith

Blood Red Skies was a pretty cool song from memory... Haven't heard the Ram It Down album in a long, long time.
