Most Metallica fans know that guitarist Kirk Hammett is an avid collector of all things horror-related. Now, he's ready to share his assembly of rare items with the world via a new book, "Too Much Horror Business The Kirk Hammett Collection", due out this October. The hardback book will include 300 images of items from Hammett's stash, with captions written by the guitarist and a three-part interview about his passion for horror. "This is my gift to all the other horror nerds out there who are just like me," Kirk said in a press release. "It's been made with great love for all the many characters and movies which guided me through childhood, into adulthood and which still keep me on track today." Of course, fans attending Metallica's new Orion Music + More festival this weekend (June 23-24 in Atlantic City, New Jersey), will get a very special look at Hammett's collection. An area of the fest will host Kirk's Crypt, which will feature some of the guitarist's prized items. Thanks for the report to Bryan Wawzenek, Gibson.com.

So it is true. Kirk can't even look scary as a zombie! I don't get the hate on him... Hes one of the nicest and shyest guy metal, wrote some amazing and memorable solos and all people seems to care is how much he abuses the Crybaby. Fact is, solos in thrash-metal are usually shitty. Select few guys can actually pull out feel in that (Friedman is another), and Kirk has a ton of em. Also before you bash Kirk's 'limitations' in solos; try to look at the tab. Not kirk, but the rhythm of Hetfield while Kirk solos. Its full of chopped down tritones and minor seconds. Try soloing on that, you'll know that Pentas are your most viable option. Kirk infact pulls out a lot of Phrygian and Dorian and makes it sound memorable.

Cool! But I was tricked, I thought they meant a full-length fiction novel...
