Korn frontman Jonathan Davis has said that he is excited about the fact that his band's new "dubstep" album "The Path Of Totality" is going to aggravate their fans. The album is comprised entirely of songs made with dubstep producers, with DJ Skrillex featuring on three tracks including lead-off single "Get Up", Noisia appearing on three tracks, Downlink appearing on four and Excision appearing on two. It is due for release on December 5. Speaking to Kerrang!, Davis said he and his band were tired of being known as "the godfathers of nu metal" and that some of their fans were "stuck in 1994". Asked if he was worried about people's reaction to "The Path Of Totality", Davis replied: "People are going to be pissed about this record. That's made me even more excited about it. I don't give a flying fuck what people think. We can't win with Korn fans. Some are so stuck in 1994." The singer also blasted people who wanted his band to simply rehash their older material and said they were sick of their tag as the inventors of the nu-metal genre. He said: "Everybody calls us the godfathers of nu-metal and I'm fucking tired of that. We don't want to join the nostalgia circuit. Us, Limp Bizkit, Staind or some shit like that. Fuck that." The singer added that he believed his band had invented a new genre of music on the album, which he calls "future metal" and revealed that the band's recent single "Get Up" was inspired by his hatred of everybody moaning about the recession. He said of this: "'Get Up' is about the recession. I wish everyone would shut the fuck up and have some fun. Every day I've got to hear about unemployment and people starving." Thanks for the report to Nme.com.

Davis is a large johnson. 8====D But for real, he SERIOUSLY needs to stop complaining. I would be proud of being the godfathers of nu-metal, let alone being one of the very few GOOD nu-metal bands. He SERIOUSLY needs to stop complaining about people talking about unemployment and starvation because he's filthy rich. I'm all for having fun and looking on the bright side of life, but I'm not gonna down trod others who have it bad. And finally, he SERIOUSLY needs to stop complaining about his fans. His fans are obviously going to be stuck on '94-era Korn because that was the best Korn. It's like people being stuck on 80's Metallica, you can't blame your fans (especially your true fans who have been there since the beginning) for digging the better songs you have. The only thing good about this whole article is that even though it's dubstep (a genre I REALLY wouldn't like them to move in), I'm glad they're doing what they want to. I just wish they wouldn't bag their fans (who got them where they are) while they do it.

"Get Up' is about the recession. I wish everyone would shut the **** up and have some fun. Every day I've got to hear about unemployment and people starving." Says the guy who has enough money to live happily through the recession. I was ok with their new direction, because it wouldnt effect me. I dont like nu metal anyway, but now he's just being a ****.

I love Jon Davis. He is one of my favorite vocalists, and definitely a person who has been through a lot.
"I wish everyone would shut the **** up and have some fun. Every day I've got to hear about unemployment and people starving."
My family can barely afford getting me clothes. Yea, don't expect me to get your new album after what you just said ignorant, filthy IDIOT. By the way, dubstep doesn't include any musical instruments does it? "Music".

"'Get Up' is about the recession. I wish everyone would shut the **** up and have some fun. Every day I've got to hear about unemployment and people starving." What an absolute moron. He's so obsessed with his own tiny world that he doesn't want to care about what normal people are going through. It's easy to have fun if you're a rich rockstar, sorry for being poor Jonathan, maybe we should celebrate having no jobs so you don't have to hear it.

I wish Jonathan Davis would shut the **** up and have some fun. Every day I've got to hear about filthy rich rock stars bitching about poor people."

Shouldn't he actually give a **** about his fans? I mean this seems like he's just spitting on old school fans just because he wants more money, he's spitting on those who got him there. Fuck Korn, change is good and all that but **** supporting a band that talks about there fans like this.

"future metal" sounds like ass from what I can tell. There is a reason no other band would touch dubstep, I go with the reason that they are smart enough to realise that dubstep is already dying. He also does not know how to treat his fans, the ones that got him to where he is. If/when dubstep dies then the dubstep fans will have gone and the 'metal' fans will aswell with his attitude. Enjoy unemployment Davis.
Get Up' is about the recession. I wish everyone would shut the **** up and have some fun. Every day I've got to hear about unemployment and people starving.
So sick of people moaning...I'm gonna write a song moaning about people moaning and being sick of hearing them moan. *sign*

Every day it's that Johnson complaining again about his fans, that's where he goes wrong. Obviously he loses fans, but he's gaining fans too. But he is only losing more fans by complaining about them. Just make the ***ing album, and shut the hell up, this isn't helping him.

Hey I welcome the change. The 2 songs I've heard on the radio so far were really good. I can't wait to hear the rest of this album. I would consider this Korn 2.0 rather then Korn. I hope they don't dismiss their old style completely, but I'm definitely a fan of the dubstep style so far.
    CommanderMeaty
I like all the things Korn does but the frontman is a prick! also, Future-Metal what a crappy doushey tag! and it is no good to bash at fans like that! especially when their not like blink-182`s fans!

You know, I was totally fine with the change in direction. I commended them for trying something new whether it was good or bad. But after reading that comment about the recession I just think the man is a giant *****. It's easy for the rich guy to tell people to get over the recession and the fact they have lost their jobs. I will no longer support Korn or him in any way, shape or form. I wish I didn't buy any Korn albums at all now or went to their show. Maybe everyone should boycott Korn and then lets see how he deals with a lack of income.

can somebody come up with a name that isn't "-metal", "-core", "post-","Death-" ...what happened to naming a genre something originally descriptive, such as Grunge, Thrash, Punk, Hardcore, Grind, Rap, Hip-Hop, Pop, Country, ...any of this, tired of the fusion stuff

Life is not peachy. I remember 94... Faget... Clown... Great shit! That is what I like.. so .. I am proud of being stuck.

I only like one Korn song (Falling Away From Me) and thought that they were an okay band at best, since I couldn't get into their music. Now, since I hate dubstep, I see no redeeming qualities in their music since that's what their pretty much going to be doing from now on. Oh, and Jonathan needs to STFU. Be proud to your fans and don't bitch about them liking your old music. That's how you piss people off and lose fans.
    Finn666
There is no such things as "good" nu metal. Also being happy that you jumped on the dumb step bandwagon and pissed off fans is not showing ANY integrity for your music johnathan asshat
    samhell
I'm into it. He's right on about everything here. I'm not even a Korn fan. Maybe I will be now though... Shit, they are actually doing something. Not just loafing around whining about shit or being stuck in the past. I respect that.

This may sound stupid but I'm genuinely baffled that Korn are still making music. I thought they went away yeeeeears ago. Suppose making an effort to become relevant again is admirable.
    mysticguitar77
This is the best Korn has sounded in years. I think the fans that liked Korn in the 90's and early 00's but hated their post-Head material, will enjoy this album (I'm in that group). The fans that like Korn's newer material will hate this new direction and the diehard Korn fans like everything this band releases. That's the way I see it at least. A new direction is what Korn needed and this new album could be a great comeback.

for all you people who think you know it all, for one, JD is NOT a prick or arrogant by any means (meet him in person a few times and you'll know) and two, KoRnare about experimenting, every one of their albums has had a different sound in one way or another, and that's what made them unique...and live, they still tear it up no matter if they are playing new or old songs, and would mop the floor with most bands today when it comes to performance and the energy they give...I can careless if anyone here disagrees with me, you probably dont know anything anyways and worship bands like MCR

Get your panties out of a bunch; he obviously means he's just sick of the negativity, and hates that these terrible things exist so that we HAVE to hear about them, and, well, aren't we all sick of it? I know I am. And anyone who thinks he shouldn't be baggin' his fans doesn't know many of them.

"Tired of being godfathers of Nu Metal" Lmao Then they go and record a dubstep album which pretty much becomes a Nu metal move because Korn is doing it. Did anyone else really go "Holy crap a dubstep album!?" or was everyone like me and said "Yeah that sounds like something Korn would do."

Best Metal bands in the world? lol, silly person, Korn came out in the mid-90's. By then all the best had come and gone or just got better, with no help from crappy, overly-distorted Alternative Rock bands like Korn. Oh.. sorry. Nu-Metal* bands like Korn, that had nothing to do with the development of Metal. I can't believe people still think Korn was some fantastic band, when the fact they just jumped on the latest/newest/crappiest trend that is Dubstep in order to remain relevant SHOULD show them as the trendy idiots they are.
    Shor-T Zero
If he complains anymore, he'll be able to write an album complaining about all of this. And it'll probably be a nu-metal album. I don't really like how he's going about this, but I do agree though. It's nice to see them doing something different and new. Though the tag "future metal" is kinda f***ing lame. Just try "dubmetal" or whatever people have been labeling already.

Just worked their show. A sh*t ton of subs! The show was great! The video wall was great.

I think this will do well. They've always been kind of different and at least they won't have the worst ever metal crossover album cough cough Lulu cough

They can be energetic because their music is sooo simple. I can dance around too if i didnt care about scalular playing. Btw JD doesnt know what its like to be homeless or to starve or how about being 15 and stealing tip jars to feed your sisters or breaking into motorhomes sp your 1 year old sis can sleep in warmth. I have so screw all of you.

I don't get that...as long as the music is good, I don't care if the people behind the music are idiots. o.O
