Mushroomhead is preparing to drop their latest album "The Righteous & the Butterfly" on May 13, and they're exclusively debuting the disc's lead single, "QWERTY" via Loudwire (listen below).

Bassist Dr. F tells Loudwire, "'QWERTY' is one of those songs that is a anything goes, wide spectrum-style tune. From its inception, it was obvious that this would be a fun, creepy, unpredictable one."

He adds, "The song came about around two years ago when Church and myself first joined 'Shroom. Right around then, we were rehearsing for the annual 'old-school' show in Cleveland and our heads were full of nothing but Mushroomhead's early catalog. It just so happened that we were in the pre-production stages of writing for a new album as well. The influence of the early 'Shroom period is very evident in 'QWERTY' as it was inspired by songs like 'Simpleton,' 'Ego-Trip' and '43,' just to name a few."

The bassist concludes, "We wanted to fuse together the fun, dark keyboard driven sounds of the old-school with a raw, heavy modern twist. We feel as though we've accomplished this and couldn't be more excited that it became the first single!"

You can hear 'QWERTY' on the upcoming "The Righteous & the Butterfly" album. The disc is available for pre-order at Amazon and iTunes. Also look for the tune at the band's upcoming shows. Catch Mushroomhead on their own dates in May and look for them taking part in the 2014 Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival this summer.

I'm a big Mushroomhead fan and am still looking forward to the album, but this song was a let down. Doesn't fit in with the sound and feel of their music. Also, the song seems pretty immature. I was okay with Come On, and pretty much the only lyrics being "Do you really wanna **** with me tonight", but this song is a little too much.

LOL as if your post is upvoted, but mine is equally downvoted, saying the exact same thing. You children really don't like adults on your little guitar website do ya.

^Your comments aren't the same thing at all, you called them "Mushroomdick" and said they've always been awful. And I'm not sure where you're getting this "children" thing from, because from what I read, you come off like every other 13 year old elitist on this site. Nothing you've said exhibits adult behavior.

Mushroomhead hasn't been the same since Jmann first left. They updated their sound on Savior Sorrow but it seems like they've relapsed into nu metal again.

I actually thought beautiful stories was pretty good. Inspiration and holes in the void were just as good as any of their old stuff imo, and there was a western-sounding song (can't remember the name) that was pretty cool

Those guitars sound like shit lol. Like they recorded them with their phone, is there really an excuse for that nowadays?

I have high hopes for this record considering J Mann is back in band, but I was skeptical with having 3 vocalists and how they were going to make it work. After hearing the live version of "We Are The Truth" and now this, I'm not too impressed so far. The songs just sound flat, much like the entire Beautiful Stories album. They lost that spark that made their older songs so good. There's so many members in the band and their lineup is constantly changing, no wonder they can't maintain any consistency. Hopefully the other 12 songs on the album are better, but so far, not a good start.

I always tried to get into Mushroomhead, but for some reason I just couldn't. This is not helping.
