Nightwish have posted the first episode of their new album recording series, sharing a part of the atmosphere from the cabin where the process is taking place.

The band's eighth record is tentatively due out this spring via Nuclear Blast Records, marking the follow-up to 2011's "Imaginaerum."

Settled in the middle of Finish wilderness, the group was filmed moving into the cabin and discussing important matters regarding future plans, touring, time scheduling, promotion and more.

Mainman Tuomas Holopainen had previously spent two weeks with producer Tero "TeeCee" Kinnunen, recording demos of the new tunes.

"From the moment I start writing the song, I have the story in my head. I have a really clear vision how the songs should sound like at this point. Of course, they will change after band rehearsals and arranging. And they should change," the keyboardist commented.

I'm gonna be eaten alive for this comment, but I have concerns, that it's not gonna work so well with Floor Jansen. Hopefully, I'll be positively surprised.

Floor Is a better singer than Tarja (downvotes incoming). The first two After Forever albums before Mark Jansen left to form Epica were amazing. Now that she has a really good band again I'm really excited for this album.

Especially since they've made it sound like they're going back to their roots, which aren't great. Then again, I'm just an Anette fan. No opinion on Floor as a singer.

I'm still very optimistic, but I have to agree that I don't really want them to return to EXACTLY what they had with Tarja. Nightwish fans can argue all day about who was the better vocalist, but Imaginaerum was, musically, a huge evolution in my opinion, and I'd hate to see that get cast aside in favor of more typical operatic-symphonic metal. Last note: I can't wait to hear more of Troy.

I liked the records with Anette, but I never liked her and those records as much as Tanja and the older records. Floor completely blew me away when I saw them live, so I've got huge expectations. I've got no doubt that she will deliver.

I too am apprehensive about Floor. She can sing, and I liked her in After Forever and what she's done with Ayreon, but her voice just doesn't fit. She doesn't have Tarja's classic training and range nor does she have the sheer emotion Anette brought. I hope they let Marco sing more, he has such a perfect growl compared to the Cookie Monster vocals of a lot of symphonic metal bands.

"She is a classically trained Dramatic Soprano". You're definitely entitled to your opinion, but make sure you do your research before saying Floor has no training.

Tarja has more range than Floor, really? Floor's range is D3 to F6 Tarja's is F3 to Ab6

Actually Floor's range is a little bigger: 3.5 octaves, B2 to F6. and @skidlz: Floor has studied opera for six years. Look up some of her classical preformances of arias on YouTube. Listen to her band ReVamp songs like 'Wild Card', 'Disgraced', 'Distorted Lullibies' and 'Misery's No Crime'. Here is the song 'Precibus', where she goes from operatic to contempary and belted singing:
