Nine Inch Nails To Release New Album This Year

Nine Inch Nails are set to release new music in 2010 despite recently selling off their musical equipment after they quit playing live. Frontman Trent Reznor posted a message on the band's official website, Nin.com, explaining that there would be new band material released later this year, as well as the fruits of a new musical project he is involved in. "2010 has a number of things planned including new material from Nine Inch Nails and something else that isn't Nine Inch Nails," he wrote. "I am in a state of rediscovery and reinvention that feels unfamiliar, unsure and exactly what I need." The band released their latest album, "The Slip", last year as a free download, then physically in July. Thanks for the report to Nme.com.

i hope they will release a new live blu-ray disc, the last one was quite good and they said they recorded a live show with special 3D cameras that were used to make Avatar

trent said that Nine inch nails would not be touring for the forseeable future. he said "I've been thinking for some time now it's time to make NIN disappear for a while." besides the fact that NIN is a one man band. trent could always get someone replaced if anyone quit.

You got that right, no one cares about you. On Topic. This is semi old news already though since it's already the 6th of January and he posted this a few days back. If you're a fan of NIN, I urge you to visit this one is on us, and download the fan produced HD DvD or BlueRay from them. Amazing project, amazing quality, and foremost, amazing fans. Hope Nails keeps it going for us!

HAH! I'm hoping the "non-NIN" material is the collaboration with MJK, Atticus, and Danny Lohner: Tapeworm.

This, too. It doesn't say anything about a new album, nor does it say that whatever he is working on will be released this year. Don't mix up words, UG.

I can't believe people actually thought NIN were done. How many times has Reznor claimed to have disbanded or otherwise ended NIN?

Trent Reznor looks like an Adam Sandler's evil twin. Their music is on the same caliber imo.

They sell their equipment after every tour and it's no problem to buy new one, so this is no surprise. and trent just said he won't play live any more (i'm sure he will sometime) but he didn't say he won't release any NIN again!

Oh, so that's why they're selling guitars from the 2000 Fragility tour now. That makes a ton of sense.

Nowadays, a lot of bands rent their gear to save shipping costs and semis. That's why backline companies, like SIR, Avatar and Keyboard Specialties are in business...and they do have the gear!

Direct NIN.com link http://www.nin.com/?id=95074 I'm fully aware of what the post says, but "new material" =/= an album, and "in the works this year" =/= being released this year. Trust me, I would be ecstatic if both of those things turned out to be true, but I'm just trying not to get my hopes up, and advising everyone else to do the same, that's all.

When NIN wasn't touring, Trent Reznor would gain like 50 lbs...no one would recognize him when he went out. He'd start to workout 6 months before touring....same goes for Janet Jackson.

Year Zero was gorgeous. I even prefer it to the Downward Spiral.

I even thought, well if I don't make it to the LITS tour, maybe I'll catch them next time. lol. Glad I made it, it was an awesome show and a good way to go out.
Same here man I caught them in Iowa on the Lights In The Sky Tour. It amazed me they did Head Like and Hole and Terrible Lie and he hasn't missed a step vocally.

"since i was quite sure he had stopped the whole NIN project, im quite euforic hearing this" He never said that NIN was done, just that they were done touring for good. Though I did not expect a new album so quickly, plus apparently a side project. I guess Trent got tired of doing nothing rather quickly.

Awesome news. Nine Inch Nails is one of the only old bands I still want to continue making music.

He always said he'd be right back in it after he had time to relax with his new wife. He always said it would be soon. Bit slow on the report there, UG, this post has been on the website for about 2 weeks now, I think.

I thought they were "waiting to be missed" before they released new material? Idk, I like NIN but feel like they change their minds every 3 seconds about what they're going to do.

I really hope that the other project is the one where him and Zack de la Rocha worked together

I'd love to hear more Ghosts, one of my favourite records of the last decade. But everything else is appreciated, too of course His new project should be very interesting either!

Rumors of NIN's demise have been greatly exaggerated. When Trent said that NIN was going to stop touring for a while, I thought the band was breaking up for good.
