Paramore Recruit Ex-NIN Drummer

Ilan Rubin has joined Paramore to record their new album, after stints as a sticksman for Nine Inch Nails and Lostprophets.

Paramore Recruit Ex-NIN Drummer
1
Paramore have recruited former Nine Inch Nails and Lostprophets drummer Ilan Rubin for their new album. "Ladies and Gentlemen, our drummer for the 4th album is Mr. Ilan Rubin," proclaimed the Paramore twitter feed on Friday. The decision to hire Rubin was probably influenced by their current producer Justin Meldal-Johnsen, who played alongside the drummer in Nine Inch Nails. Rubin had also joined Angels And Airwaves this year, and continues to release his own music under the moniker The New Regime. Paramore will follow their recording sessions with their first show without founding members Zac and Josh Farro in Edinburgh, Scotland, before their headline appearances at the Reading and Leeds festivals in England. Zac Farro has since revealed his latest band HalfNoise. Here's a picture from Ilan Rubin's Instagram with his view from the Paramore recording studio:

"Paramore will follow their recording sessions with their first show without founding members Zac and Josh Farro..." They've done an entire South American tour and a whole load of other shows since the Farros left.

Ridiculously talented dude. Good at guitar, good singing voice, insane drummer. If you have 6 minutes and 4 seconds spare and appreciate good drumming, check out his performance at the Guitar Center Drum-Off.

fellow former NIN drummer Josh Freese also worked with Paramore as well. He was the drummer for their South American tour.

Whether you like the bands or not, this dude has one seriously impressive CV! I'm pretty sure he was only 19 when he played with Prophets?!

I gotta say, the Farro brothers seemed like the driving force behind Paramore, and Zac pretty much carried every song with his drumming. Rubin is a hell of a drummer, and it'll be interesting to see what he brings to that band.

Is it just me or is he reminiscent of Animal of the Muppets while playing? Nonetheless, that was awesome. I had never looked into him when he was NIN, I really should have. Hes is a beast with the sticks, thanks for sharing that!

Taylor's brother has been playing guitar with them for a while as a touring musician. They've had a couple of other randoms too, having three guitars on stage. So far as far as the studio recordings go, the only guitarist mentioned has been Taylor. I would guess he'll play every part on the album and his brother/other session musicians will come along on tour, just as they did with the Riot! album where Josh played everything in the studio and Taylor was brought in for the tour.

Well Rubin can be hit and miss but I expect nothing but brilliance from Justin Meldal-Johnsen, I'm very interested to hear how the final product turns out.
