Former Pantera singer and current Down frontman Phil Anselmo has officially revealed the details regarding his debut solo record "Walk Through Exit Only." The album will see its release on July 16 via Anselmo's own Housecore Records label featuring a total of eight new tracks. You can check out the cover artwork below.

With Michael Thompson and Anselmo himself at the helm of production, the album was recorded during the last couple of years at the NODferatu's Lair studio in New Orleans. The rest of the recording lineup features The Illegals band consisting of guitarist Marzi Montazeri and Jose Manuel "Blue" Gonzales on drums.

"It wasn't about doing a paint-by-numbers thrash or heavy metal record," the singer said in an official statement. "It's an angry album that only I could do. I don't see anybody else out there screaming about the same shit I'm screaming about. On this album, there isn't any wordplay, there isn't any hidden message, it's all right there in front of you."

Some of the song titles include "Battalion of Zero," "Usurper's Bastard Rant" and the title track. Live dates will also follow, with plans for a major North American this summer.

Guy always seems so angry. What's wrong, man?
Will need to check this out Anselmo is my favourite part of Pantera.
One can not simply choose his favorite part of Pantera. Tha guys are all awesome.
    Way Cool JR.
"It's an angry album that only I could do. I don't see anybody else out there screaming about the same shit I'm screaming about." Funniest thing I'v heard in a very, very long time.
Phil Anselmo is a douchebag. I went to see Down when they opened for Megadeth in my city. For almost half of the set he kept going on about how much he loved weed. Play the music for god's sakes! That being said, he does have a unique voice and I hope this project comes out decently.
Looks pretty cool. And finally, a new metal album that doesn't have an excessive number of songs on it. (I fear that this might be the downfall of the new Sabbath album, considering their classic albums.)
Superjoint Ritual, Down, why is this guy releasing a solo album? Isn't Down his solo band? This devalues both brands.
superjoint ritual is dead, down is a supergroup, and this is a phil anselmo solo album.

You're a twat...this is a SOLO album, he has control over every riff, drum beat and bass line on this album. Something make me think that Kirk Windstein playing in Kingdom of Sorrow doesn't devalue Down's "brand".
Down isn't even close to a "solo band". It's a supergroup in every sense of the word... members of Crowbar, Corrosion of Conformity, Eyehategod w/ Anselmo on vocals.
For a guy who's famous for shouting "Walk" a lot, it's just appropriate to title his solo album with that word
