The guys in Public Image Ltd. have confirmed that they are writing and recording their first album in nearly 20 years, according to The Quietus. The reunited band's last studio release was 1992's "That What Is Not". Frontman John Lydon (a.k.a. Johnny Rotten of the Sex Pistols) said that PIL are in a studio that is "in the outskirts of nowhere". The post-punkers reunited in 2009 and toured extensively in 2010. Lydon did advertisements for Country Life Butter in order to fund the band's recent tours and studio time. P.I.L. recently performed at The Isle Of Wight Festival. Thanks for the report to Bryan Wawzenek, Gibson.com.

People dont understand the butter advert. Has anybody else picked up that Rotten was saying "****-try life" butter? If you have to do an ad to tour so be it. Every band promotes some sort of lifestyle through their attitude. Why is it so wrong for a Sex Pistol to do a commercial? Everyone else has done one. Its not as if he has renounced everything he has stood foor. That album he made in 1977 isnt going to pay the bills forever.

I didn't like the contradiction of the face of punk doing an advert... This was the man who once sung(ish) "Your future dream is a shopping scheme"... But still. PiL are pretty right so I can only look forward to this, butter advert or not.

Yeah, that was why he was doing the CountryLife Butter adverts... Either way, looking forward to this-ish.
    THE BULGE
Pretty good that they are able to get themselves off the ground without the labels, as much as it upset people lydon doing those adverts he may be able to make the album he's always wanted self funding this way, not sure if i'll like it without wobble on bass but :/!
