In a new interview with the U.K. newspaper The Daily Telegraph, Robert Plant has revealed that he is ditching his recent "country" vocal style, which he employed on recent Band Of Joy And Alison Krauss collaborations. Plant says: "That was the great thing about the adventures with Alison, and singing with Patty and Buddy, that I started singing differently. Somebody said to me in London when we played the Forum recently, "You had your big voice back." I put the big voice away for quite a long time because I thought; we know how to do that. So it was good to get it out again. It's all the same really, you just have to use the right colors for the right picture." Plant's next album is underway. It will under the name Sensational Space Shifters. No songs are yet named. But Plant does say there will be "12 tracks, 11 originals and no sentimental stuff." Thanks to Gibson for the report.

No one contradicts themselves more than Robert Plant. Won't reunite with Led Zeppelin because he's too old for that: does almost only Zeppelin covers on tour. Says he won't do Zeppelin because he's not that singer anymore, now he's that singer. None of his solo stuff is worth it. Angel Dance and Gone, Gone, Gone are his only worthwhile songs and they're covers.

When he played with Zeppelin at O2, and other times when he's covered Zeppelin songs live recently, he has to sing most songs in a lower key. That could be what he means by "he's not that singer anymore". As far as his solo stuff not being good, I'd recommend listening to his work with The Strange Sensation band. The drummer has toured with both Portishead and Radiohead most recently, and the whole band is VERY rocking and talented. Really reminds me of Kashmir, In the Light, and the eastern music fused with heavy metal side of Zeppelin. Specifically check out the album "Mighty Rearranger". Amazingly sick and heavy music.

I just hope it's rocking and heavy, he hasn't done anything rock oriented in a long while

I don't care how he's moved on, the album can only really be a success (sales-wise) if he works with Page. Even if not, should be great though.
