Rush: New Single Due 1 June

Rush are to release a brand new single entitled "Caravan" on 1 June, reports Planet Rock.com. According to the US Amazon site the song will be released digitally, and Rush fansite Rushisaband reports that the single will be given away on CD to everyone that buys a VIP ticket to see the band's Time Machine Tour this summer. The song is backed with what appears to be another brand new track on the B-Side which is entitled BU2B and you can purchase the song with a digital booklet. Both tracks are listed as "single versions" which suggests that there are longer versions which will presumably feature on the band's forthcoming album. Rush is currently working on its 20th studio album with producer Nick Raskulinecz (co-producer of Rush's 2007 CD, "Snakes & Arrows") in Nashville. Rush has announced the details of the Time Machine Tour, which will kick off on June 29 in Albuquerque, New Mexico and finish on October 2 in West Palm Beach, Florida, hitting a total of 37 cities. The centerpiece of the trek will be the band's first-ever performance of its classic 1981 album "Moving Pictures" in its entirety. The group will also play other beloved tracks from its catalog as well as new songs that the band has been working on. This will be Rush's first road trip since touring extensively behind its 2007 studio album, "Snakes & Arrows". Read more at Blabbermouth.net.

Right, just like 80 percent of the retards on this site with names like Slash486 and Mustaineisgod can say their down syndrome based ideas and opinions on music, it becomes a law that someone named Phil Collins can't Would I have "bad taste" in music if my user name was Vaishredbuckethead286?

    1) Rush isn't a progressive rock band. 2)Do you even realize that Collins' was a member of a progressive rock band? 3) Are you a f-ing retard?

Saw the Snakes & Arrows tour in 07. Wasn't a huge fan at that point, but I was converted. Rush is unreal.

Snakes and Arrows was a good album. They still make good music, just not on par with their older stuff. I'd love for them to try n make another long epic.

Gonna see them when they hit Camden NJ in July, can't f**kin' wait! I agree that their older material was far superior to their newer stuff, but what do you expect? We ARE the people who buy, chew up and swallow each new album they put out and send it quasi-double-plexi-dupli-platinum

I think you may be the retarded one. Rush is one of the most progressive bands of all time, much more progressive than Collins. Their sound has changed with every single album, helping them remain popular for 18 albums. If you want any more facts just hit me up.

Rush is a progressive rock band. His comment had to do with popular opinion that Phil Collins is not a good member of a prog band. That said, people are being an ass to you. On topic, I'm excited. should be great to have a listen.

Rush isn't a progressive rock band. Their a hard rock band that has occasionally had progressive elements in their music, like almost all rock bands that cross into and toy with other music genres sometimes. Collins may have been playing pop since the early 80s....so what? Nothing rong with pop music if it's done well and is fun to listen to. But saying that Rush is more progressive then say, Genesis or Yes pure idioicy. I'm a massive Rush fan that has all their output and have seen them 7 times in concert. Their not a "progresive rock" band.

OK, so just because their songs are not ALL 10+ minutes long (Yes) and they are not complete weirdos (Early Genesis), they are not Prog? That's a pretty narrow definition of a very wide-ranged genre. That said, calling someone an "f-ing retard" will likely magnetize another ***** to you with similar meaningless insults. Just fyi...

What a load of tripe. Saying Rush isn't Progressive is utterly ridiculous. You may as well call Dream Theater not progressive either. With that being said I love ALL their albums and I'm glad they're still making music after all these years. At least be grateful for that!!

Looking forward to this. To those trying to prove their manliness by dismissing this as not their epic 70s prog, listen to Power Windows, Counterparts or Snakes & Arrows. A truly progressive band is one where over their history the music progresses, constantly evolves and constantly tries new, different things. And by that definition Rush are one of the most progressive bands out there.

    1) Define progressive rock. I believe Rush fits under the definition just as much as Genesis or Phil Collins does. Long songs? Check. Intricate instrumental sections? Check. Lyrics that amount to more than just relationship topics and partying? Check. Structurally complex music? Check. Time signature changes uncommon to rock music? Mega-check. Sure, they might not have kept this up their entire career, but then, neither did Genesis. 2) Phil Collins was many things. Including a progressive rock drummer and vocalist. He's also responsible for some of the most contrived, kitschy music I've ever heard in my life. Can't win 'em all. 3) Welcome to U-G, where everyone is an *****!

Correct, if you want to bash a true progressive rock band by bashing their progressiveness, then go sit and listen to AC/DC because they come out with the same album--album after album. And if that makes you happy, then I'm happy for you. Keep rockin' the mullet, drinking crystal pepsi, wearing acid wash, and saying the word "rad". (not that there's anything wrong with AC/DC, I love them...) : I love you all! Long live Rush!

Because that would be treading on 30 year old ground. HYPOTHETICAL SITUATION: You're in a multi-platinum selling band that's been together longer than most of us on U-G have been alive. You've been releasing albums steadily in that time. Are you REALLY going to want to just keep releasing the same shit over and over and over again for THIRTY YEARS? Think about that for a minute and put yourself in their shoes.

I have to strongly disagree. I thought Nick R. produced their strongest album in a long time. They're still producing new albums that fans want to buy (without resorting to including a best of Cd with it). How many bands as old as them can say that? I've ran into kids who started being fans after hearing "Far Cry"...

bout time! been waiting to hear "Caravan"...Nothing they do will hold a candle to the Hemispheres - Permanent Waves era, but gotta hand it to them for sticking around for so long...and any Rush fan knows they dont make music for anyone but themselves...

Finally!!! I wish I was alive back when they had like... 6 albums in 4 years! 5 years from Vapor Trails to Snakes and Arrows was obnoxious. 3 years until this??? I suppose separation does make the heart grow fonder... haha. Can't wait to hear some Geddy riffage! I won the first 2 tickets to the Atlanta date so I'm psyched!!!

I loved Snakes and Arrows. The Main Monkey Business was a GREAT instrumental track. Looking forward to this next album.
