Slash found recording his solo album "cathartic".

The Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver rocker has taken time out from the bands to head into the studio alone and says he is loving the experience.

He said: "I'm totally on my own. A buddy of mine has got a mini-studio in his house and we stay until two or three in the morning just recording the basic demos.

"I'm used to a band situation where I'm one fifth of the input no matter who brought the song or whatever it is. Every band I've ever been in we all just sort of tear it apart, put it back together, and it comes out however it comes out.

"This is interesting for me because I'm just doing my thing and I have no one to answer to."

Although he is currently working alone, the guitarist eventually plans to bring in a different singer for each song - but refuses to say who he wants to guest on the record.

He added to America's Rolling Stone website: "There's a wish list and so far I've managed to get pretty much everybody on that wish list to commit.

"At the pace the Velvet singer search is going I'll probably get this done before then."

Velvet Revolver are currently looking for a new frontman following the departure of Scott Weiland.

Thanks for the report to Stv.tv.

Just suppose that is the case... We'd never actually get to hear any of the songs because the project would be shelved when they all died of old age... I want it to be finished before they die.

Said this before and I'll say it again. Sammy Hagar for VR. Even Duff wants Sammy to sing for them.

this is going to be cool. Slash is a great guitarist, and he going to get the greatest rock singers to work with him. I cant wait.

To be honest, I couldn't stand the old singer for VR. I hope this new singer makes me love this band, cuz right now I don't like it much at all. And I hear Slash play his licks for these songs and I just think "okay he can do better, come on". I wanna see people like Slash finally do somethin awesome.

Rumours also have me and Hannah Montana working on a few tracks with Slash!

I fully agree with you... but I'm not huge on Slash or anything. It would be a good song but if he doesn't exclusively use Patton I doubt he'll get anybody to hold my interest

This could be interesting. I'm just glad that for once, UG has some constructive news on Slash. And didn't he say Steven Tyler would be one of the guest vocalists earlier?

Sounds okay, but i never really thought of Slash as a solo guitarist. I always thought of him as a mediocre player to be honest.

This should be cool. He's probably going to have some tasteful guitar playing on there, and it will be good for those who who appreciate his guitar playing. Slash's Snakepit was a band, but it was Slash's solo project. I mean, if you're going to make a solo album it usually includes drums, bass, and singer, duh! Yeah, Alice Cooper and Kravitz might be on there. As well as Paul Rodgers, because Paul Rodgers, Slash, and the Band of Gypsys recorded a cover of "I Don't Live Today" for the Hendrix tribute album "Stone Free."

I hope he does some acoustic stuff. He says he plays a lot of acoustic at home, hopefully some acoustic stuff will make the album. Would love to see a vocal appearance by Steven Tyler, maybe some guest guitar by Joe Perry..... but they are working on Aerosmith's new album. Would also like to see perhaps some lesser known singers from lesser known bands....help some scroungers out Slash. It's funny, when you start thinking about it.... there are very few great vocalist since the 80's hair bands died. How many truly dynamic vocalists have come along. Is it even a handful?

Vince Neil - Motley Crue used to tour with Guns N' Roses. - Slash says in his book that he's good friends with him and Tommy Lee.
sorry to rain on your parade, but slash said in his book he has hardly met vince and mick. he is good friends with nikki and tommy though. all your choices are good. i mean, imagine an album with Sebastian Bach, Alice Cooper, Izzy, Duff, etc. it would be the most rockin' album ever. Just throw in Rob Halford and Bruce Dickinson!

i love slash but i was hoping for all instrumentals. so i'm already let down but will def check this big bag of awesomeness out...

That and he mentioned in his autobiography that he did drugs/jammed with Dave Mustaine. so that means he has the potential to make an appearance.

He has done a lot of work with Daughtry (SP?) so i wouldn't be suprised if he makes an appearance on the CD.

Chris Cornell, Mike Patton are just two. BTW, everyone seems to be saying VR have a new singer. What have I missed?
    Axl_Tyler
Sounds awesome. If Sebastian Bach isn't joining VR then hopefully he'll get a chance on Slash's solo project.

Should be good, has Slash written lyrics to his songs then? Also is he just playing guitar or all instruments? Anyone know?

Talk about a good album, guest vocalists on all the tracks, I'm looking forward to it.

I really want to see what this albums like. Slash solo should be worth listening to! he's always been part of a band, so really very very few people, if any, will have heard what slash is capeable of on his own! Should be good tho

    I'm assuming he's referring to Slash's Snakepit.
