In a recent announcement via official Twitter account, Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan has confirmed that the group has started the writing process and therefore the making of new album, a follow-up to 2012's "Oceania".
"Excited to announce today's our 1st official day of writing for new SP album. Wish us luck!"
The frontman already spoke about the new album during last year, announcing it as "a cruel record" and expressing hope it will be out by the end of 2013.
"I'm starting to write new songs for the next Pumpkins album. I got a lot going on. I have a title for the next album but I won't tell. It's going to be a cruel record. Vengeance is mine," Corgan told MTV Hive.
The group is set to embark on a US tour at the beginning of May, and then hit Europe in June after a one month break. The latest Smashing Pumpkins release, "Oceania," was released back in June 2012 via EMI and Martha's Music. With 54,000 copies sold in the US within the first week, it managed to peak at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 chart.
