Staind has posted a webisode from the band's Western Massachusetts studio on MySpaceTV.com. The band began writing its sixth studio album November 23 and sketched out seven songs so far.

Guitarist Mike Mushok said the tunes so far are split between some of the heaviest material the band has written and some of its more standard melodic fare. Singer Aaron Lewis added in the clip that things are going well and that he's staying "nice and high the whole time."

Staind took a year-long hiatus after touring for most of 2006 behind its last studio effort, 2005's "Chapter V". The group also released both a greatest hits and video collection late last year.

Lewis did some solo dates at the end of last year and a full run of shows this past summer.

Talented voice? I used to think so, before I noticed that his delivery is the exact same in every tune. I owned Dysfunction, and Break the cycle. It's all the same. No variation in dynamic and an atrocious range

I thought that Aaron was supposedly sober now with his kid and shit. I guess I was wrong, but hey whatever maybe he relapsed. I like their heavier stuff much more than that stuff they've been releasing and acoustic crap. I hope some good comes out of it.

He smokes weed. I think it is fine, a lot of people smoke weed for recreational purposes including myself.

Staind is a solid band. Better than most bands out there . Sure they aren't always fun, but they sure got talent and meaningful music and taht's admirable. I liked their Dysfunction and Break the Cycle stuff the most. Though I have to give Staind credit, atleast they didn't stay all dark and moody without a purpose. Aarron and the boys had kids, got married, and were alot more rich by the time they made 14 shades. It only makes sense that they made more positive albums like 14 shades and Chapter 5. Though I agree they need to do something different, the ballads are getting old.

Top reason why Staind sucks, the guys voice isnt a "talent" voice or anything of sorts. He has the same voice Scott Stapp and coutnless other singers imitate. Its a voice that "cheats". I bet if u tries singn like that, YOU CAN. I could, and i cant even sing. They imitate like the Scott Weiland, STP days, Eddie Vedder. He mind as well lip sync, like Britney, cuz the "fake" is so obvious. But if its okay with their fans, so be it. Just thought id would shed some light with a little match. I think if more that 2 singers sound the same, somtething is up. Its ridiclous. Think about it,, 5 singer that sound alike? COmpletely diff. bands and shit, gimme a break. Scott Stapp = no talent, found easy way out, same goes for the Staind schmuck. Go Bettman!

Wow kiddo, pretty naive about the music biz aren't you? They make records to sound like exactly what you'll buy because you will buy the album, blow up the single, go to the concert, buy the overpriced merch, and go tell all your friends how awesome they were live (they aren't. I've had the misfortune of seeing them twice. Family values '99 and Sick and twisted tour.)

One of the best concerts I've ever witnessed Staind was the headliner. The did a kick ass cover of "Nutshell" by AiC, my all-time favorite song.

    Claudio Sanchez lol

I cant say the singer is distinctive. my friend likes staind and it all sounds the same as the same metalish not really rock but still not nu metal stuff that is the sort of underdog genre at the moment.

I hope this album is more distinguishable from the other records. The only song that doesn't sound like almost everything else [they've written] is their first single "Mudshovel"

As some other people have mentioned, I really hope this record goes back to the Dysfunction days. Break the Cycle had some alright songs but every record after that seemed to go downhill. Dysfunction will still rank high in my music collection. I'm hoping for the best

well i mean Aaron Lewis, from my understanding, was sober during the writing porcess of Chapter V so a lot of pent up emotion was let out becasue he could finally feel the full effect. lyrically Chapter V was awesome but musically it wasnt up to par. so if hes back on drugs this will be a heavy ass cd and PS- Tormented was the best cd

I like heavy. I love Staind. Kinda sad that Aaron feels like he has to be "high" to make it through. Too me, it shows great weakness when someone feels they need to be high to enjoy life (or deal with stress for that matter). Man Up Aaron!

im hoping for something more like tormented or dysfunction, or at least break the cycle.

That's great news. I really thought Aaron stopped smoking up. Can't wait to hear the heavy stuff. Chapter V was a good effort if you haven't checked it out yet.

I hope they never come around to completing the album and the band itself just dies out. They're unoriginal, every song sounds exactly the same, their singer is one of the MOST emotional people I've EVER seen, and musically they drown in ineptitude. They just need to put away their instruments and do everyone a favour by leaving the music business for good.

Staind was never one of my favorite top 3 groups or anything, but I've always enjoyed their music. Can't wait to hear the new stuff

That's a bad thing? I really wish Staind would stop trying to be a heavy metal band. They sound great as a mature, melodic rock band. When they try to sound heavy like they did several years ago, it just sounds awkward and insincere.

Seriously? You think that's bad? You're such a manly man, having no emotions at all. Grow up.
