Stone Temple Pilots Release Lyric Video for 'Black Heart'

Stone Temple Pilots with Chester Bennington have released a lyric video for "Black Heart," the second track from their upcoming EP, "High Rise."

The EP, which is scheduled for release on October 7th, will be the first record to feature Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington on vocals, since STP's long time front man Scott Weiland was dismissed from the band. The track listing for that record is as follows:

1. Out of Time 2. Black Heart 3. Same on the Inside 4. Cry Cry 5. Tomorrow

Both Stone Temple Pilots and Scott Weiland are currently taking legal action against each-other following Weiland’s departure. STP have issued a statement explaining their reasons for taking their former singer to court:

"Our purpose in taking this action is not to hurt Scott. We want to move forward productively, and Scott's choices and actions have prevented us from doing that. We were in the process of putting our 20th anniversary tour together to celebrate the release of our first album, 'Core.' The plan was for a big tour where we'd perform the album in its entirety, along with some other favorite STP songs. So, you might imagine our shock and disappointment when, without any notice, we learned that Scott had seized this tour for himself as his solo tour, and decided to do exactly what we as a group had planned. We found out about it the same way you did - we saw an ad for it."

People have been comparing new STP with Weiland, and I can understand why. But, it is more accurate to say that the new stuff sounds like STP, rather than like Weiland. People need to realize that the STP sound wasn't all about Scott. There are three other members of the band, and they had just as much to do with the STP sound as Weiland did.

These latest STP tunes seem lyrically still like Scott...almost wondering if they were left over from past sessions.

The guitars, drums and bass seem to be pretty cool in both songs that they've released but Chester simply is not a good enough singer or lyricist to match. He can only sing in one way and it becomes so ****ing boring. I think the STP boys are lying to themselves thinking that they've hit the jackpot with this Weiland wannabe. Hopefully Scott will pull his shit together AGAIN and rejoin the band in a full blown reunion AGAIN. I'm a Weiland fanboy though so I may be biased.

For all you guys saying Chester is horrible, gay, Scott imitation, and my personal favourite: a horrible singer etc. watch this:
Just saying, STP could have done a WHOLE lot worse than Chester and if anybody was gonna replace Scott, he's the man. Decent song btw.

If this is what they sounded like in 1994 they would still be playing in their garage. There is very little to like about either of the songs I have heard from the Chester Temple Pilots.

This sounds like STP but I don't really like it. There's like an echo and some distortion going on the vocals and it sounds yuck.
