It was announced over a year ago in July 2009 that Testament had started working on a new studio album; their tenth overall and the first one since 2008's The Formation Of Damnation. The band has now released some more information concerning the upcoming release and they have a more definite time frame in mind.
The thrash band, who have just recently finished touring across North America with bands Megadeth and Slayer earlier this year, have announced that the upcoming album should be coming out sometime next year and that the studio work will be done later this year.
We currently have studio time booked at the end of this year, and we're shooting for a mid-2011 release. The new album will most likely be a culmination of The Gathering and The Formation of Damnation, but we're definitely not going to forget who we are or our roots. I think we've found a comfortable spot in our writing style guitarist Eric Peterson says.
We're going to be home during the fall and winter working on new material. As we speak, I'm working on new music, and we're shooting to record by the end of the year. That's our plan, but we're not going to just put out a record to put out a record. We have standards, and we're picky as to what exactly we want to put out.
If the new album is going to be anything like the previous one, it should be something to look forward to and well worth the three-year wait. For those interested in keeping up with Testament's news you can do so by visiting their MySpace page.
