After the band's website featured a mysterious design, it's official: frontman Brandon Flowers is set to release his debut solo album. The announcement comes after a mystery countdown clock appeared on the group's website which had fans speculating what sort of news would come all week. A rep close to The Killers said Flowers solo album will be titled Flamingo. As reported last year, Flowers denied that he would be venturing off on his own and pursuing a solo career. Various websites had reported the singer was interested in creating his own material but the group's record label denied such accusations. "Brandon Flowers is not going to leave The Killers'," said a statement from Island Records. The Killers are currently on hiatus. Aside from Flowers, drummer ronnie Vannucci is set to release an album with members of Keane and Noah And The Whale under the name Mt. Desolation.

I love The Killers and I don't think I can wait for them to end their hiatus. This will definitely keep me busy until then. I hope they don't split up!!!

I'd say he's one of the best vocalists of the past decade, don't know 'bout you. Anyways, I'll probably check this out.

I will check this album out because im a Killers fan, however if it is under my expectations, I will do something crazy.

Except System of a Down was actually a good, nay, awesome band who wrote interesting and/or socially conscious lyrics, instead of, to pick one example, "are we human or are we dancer" (what the f*** is that even supposed to mean?) He needs to write better lyrics or hire someone else to do it for him.

Based on what? No range, lack of dynamic, has no emotion when he sings, he's terrible at holding a note, sings flat in the live situation. That's just his vocal ability. If you take into account his personality - this guy's just so egotistical. I'm looking at the top ten list of iTunes for this week alone: Usher, Train, and Rihanna all have better vocal abilities than this guy.
Based on his range, and how his voice is full of emotion when he sings? Are we listening to the same Killers here?

Here's to hoping that the Killers won't split after this. It will be interesting to hear where he goes with the sound on this one though. Will it be Killers-esque, or will he go somewhere completely different?

Hopefully we can expect more meaningful lyrics this time around; if I have to hear "are we human, or are we dancer" one more fatherbanging time, I'll do something violent to a random member of my local society. What the hell happened to the old Killers? They completely fell off the wagon in terms of cool songwriting.

Why do front men have to stray? I'm still getting over Eddie K leaving LIVE. They're a band, a unit, awesome together, that's what made Killers (and LIVE) great.

Actually, after listening to the small clip over at The Killers' site, this sounds sort of promising. Honestly, it's what I'd imagine he might write on his own, though any sort of judgment should probably be held until we can hear full songs.

This makes me fearful that there is not new material from The Killers on the horizon

That sample from the site sounds pretty freakin good. Will definantly check this out when it comes out.

I really wish this site would learn to capitalize proper nouns, like people's names. Ronnie, not ronnie.

all the best to him! I'm not into the killers at all but it'll be interesting to see what he does.
