The Strokes have started work on new material, just a month after the release of their fourth album "Angles". Bassist Nikolai Fraiture confirmed the New York band entered the studio on April 25 to "work on some new ideas". Writing on his Twitter page, he said: "Super excited to go in to the studio today and work on some new ideas! I'll keep you posted." He later clarified that the sessions were with his main band rather than his side-project Nickel Eye, tweeting: "For The Strokes, of course!" The sessions follow on from Fraiture's recent announcement that the band planned to head into the studio this month. Frontman Julian Casablancas has also said the band are keen to get on with new material "as soon as possible". Thanks for the report to NME.com.

everyone's pissed that the strokes didn't sell out and put stuff out that sounds like last night so bros and radio stations can enjoy it. they're not full speed ahead scruffy kids anymore, they appreciate what needs to go into to music and whether people like it or not they're being meticulous about the process because it's important to them. they're going to exploit their individual strengths and their music will be fine.

Angles was good and is exactly what the strokes were goin for, but hopefully with them being rushed to get this new album out they will make it sloppy in a good way.

woo! i am pumped! and "Angles" was not horrible. it might've not been their best album (not to sound cliche, but i also think "Is This It" is the best), but damn it, Angles was one good album. there is no denying that.

Let me know when they hit the studio to work on a new album and it better be better than Angles too. I thought they pretty much dropped the ball on that one.
