Group heading back to the studio soon for follow-up to 2009's self-titled release.

Them Crooked Vultures Working On Second Album

The rock supergroup consisting of John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin), Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age), and Drave Grohl (Nirvana/Foo Fighters) are heading back to the studio to work on their second album. Jones, of Them Crooked Vultures, recently told BBC 6 Music that the group is ready to resume working on putting together new material for a fresh release. "Some stuff we've worked on, but we're gonna write pretty quickly and just put it down... we may be a year or so [away from completing the CD]," he said. "It will mainly be excess material from the first album, material we started and never finished because we had to go and play the stuff we already recorded!" Them Crooked Vultures released their debut self-titled album in November 2009. It won rapt reviews across the board, and the band has toured extensively since. The album sold over 70,000 copies in its first week of availability in the United States, giving it the number 12 spot on the Billboard Top 200 chart.

I think his vocals go pretty well with the band, but if we need to choose another vocal, I would choose Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam, THAT WOULD MAKE THE PERFECT BAND.

@slaveskinJACKET... So you don't like Jack White either? Anyway... This is awesome news. Saw their debut at the Metro in Chicago after Lollapalooza last year, again in Philly. JPJ played some incredible instruments. Of course, Grohl and Homme did their thing, but Johannes was really impressive as well as he was when he was with QOTSA. That guy does it all.

Definitely looking forward to this. One of the most interesting supergroups since ...Well, I think I'd go as far back as the Traveling Wilburys. The Dead Weather is in that category as well, I think. And yes, "his" name is Dave Grohl. lol.

"Sorry, but this band would be so much better without Homme... or at least with different vocalist, second guitarist, and a different main songwriter. I just don't like his vocal style. His guitar work is really sloppy, but also, it just doesn't sound good. It's kind of like Jack White, minus the blues inspiration. And his songwriting style is just boring and strange for the sake of strangeness. "No One Knows" is the best song to ever come from this style, and I'm pretty confident that Homme will never be able to write anything that will top it. " This guy knows nothing of music, homme is blues inspired genius and in the musician scene he is very much respected and every rocker wants to do some type of project with him. so people just dont get it.

No - Dave Grohl first mentioned the idea of the band as far back as 2005. Jones and Homme first met each other at Dave's 40th birthday - January last year. The album was recorded and released by the end of the same year. Now, taking into account Jones mentions in thye article that - "It will mainly be excess material from the first album, material we started and never finished because we had to go and play the stuff we already recorded!" - and given the work ethic of the members involved, I don't think it's too much to expect a new TCV album within 12 months. After all, Grohl is rarely on the road for more than a couple of months at a time ,if that - he has stated many times that he would rather be home with his family - if the others follow suit and record in their down time, there's plenty they can achieve.

Drave Gorhl is quite possibly one of the best modern musicians out there, can't wait for this; *****some.

k somebody is lying because a new QOTSA album is suppose to be in the works too and the Foo Fighters are just finsishing an album so assume a tour from them to support it I would love all this to happen in a year but there is no way that all this is going down

Yet, somehow, it's all happening. Maybe it's because Drave Gorhl is the ****ing MAN.

Why do bands act like they only need one guitarist, and then when they get in the studio, they record like there's 2-3 guitarists in the band? I'm not talking about just multi-tracking the same guitar piece, they'll record multiple layered pieces, creating a track impossible to duplicate live with just one guitar player and no pre-recorded tracks. Why not just get another guitar player?
If you watch some of their live performances you'll notice they play with another guitarist. His name is Alain Johannes and he is TCV's touring guitarist

They had better come near where I live next time they tour. Easily the best music in the last 10 years, cannot wait for their next album.

I just want to add that I want this band to be awesome, and with Drave Gorhl and John Paul Jones, you can't really go wrong. I just think they could have made a better choice of frontman/guitarist. There were a few nice moments on the first album (No One Loves Me..., New Fang, Elephants), so Homme doesn't completely **** it up, but he does his best. P.S. Why do bands act like they only need one guitarist, and then when they get in the studio, they record like there's 2-3 guitarists in the band?
