Thom Yorke's collaborative side-project with Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers and producer Nigel Godrich, Atoms For Peace, is streamings its debut album "Amok" at amok.atomsforpeace.info. Listen to it below.
The album will be officially released on February 25, though as Yorke and Godrich confirmed on a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) yesterday, it has already leaked online.
The AMA revealed lots of juicy tidbits from the Radiohead singer. Here's some of the most interesting answers from the online Q&A session (edited for clarity):
Jack White says Radiohead have a single ready to go. When can we expect that?
Thom: We was at Jack White's place. We now have two unfinished tracks, one of which is "Identikit". It's nice there, red and black and white n' sh-t.
What is your biggest achievement so far?
Thom: Getting through the last tour despite all that had happened in Toronto [where a Radiohead drum technician died in a stage collapse]. And the lights... I was terrified about it, then it got dark but in the end we were all very proud of managing to pull it off. even in the O2 in London. it was not an easy time, but it was cool.
Any plans to collaborate more with [ambient dubstep artist] Burial?
Thom: I very much hope so. Both me, Kieran [Four Tet] and Burial are all as busy/vague as each other... in fact as usual I gotta write some words.
What advice do you have for any younger artists starting out?
Nigel: Enjoy it - making music is a wonderful way to spend your life. But do it for the love before a career. It's getting so unforgiving out there - I hate to think of the obstacles in the way now for new artists. If you love it and you are good, you will be fine, but be prepared to have to work hard and don't judge your success by other peoples opinions.
