Mastodon has revealed that Valient Himself will be making a guest appearance on the band's upcoming album. Guitarist Brent Hinds posted a picture of him with the Valient Thorr singer on Instagram on January 16th along with the caption "@valient_himself doin some sweet gang vox with my boy."

Valient Thorr supported Mastodon on the band's 2010 US headline tour. Their sixth album, "Our Own Masters," was released in June 2013 to high critical acclaim. The record was produced by Kyle Spencer.

Speaking with Metal Hammer last week, Mastodon guitarist Bill Kelliher noted that the band is looking to surprise fans with the new album:

"I've spent a lot of time writing over the last six months, trying to come up with new ideas. Every Mastodon record seems to have a different flavor - we don't want to keep on releasing the same record over and over again. We've got to surprise our fans; we're always moving and growing."

Fucking awesome man. I was actually listening to them last night too. Now I'm looking forward to the new Valient Thorr album AND the new Mastodon album even more.
Wait...Our Own Masters already came out? What rock have I been living under....hell I was the one who added it on Metal Archives ._.

Supported these guys (Valient Thorr) a few years ago when they toured over here, awesome bunch of guys. Also, I'm pretty certain that 'Valient' had a kidney out to donate to his father who was in urgent need of one, not long before that. Speaks volumes about how awesome a person he is!
This can't happen soon enough. I love every album they have done and I am super stoked to see what they do next.
