Van Halen revealed details of their forthcoming world tour, new album and single at an intimate gig in New York last night. The single "Tattoo" is available for pre-order and will be released on Tuesday January 10. The album "A Different Kind Of Truth", will be available from February 7. The tour will kick off in Louisville, Kentucky on February 18. 45 dates have been booked so far, which you can see below. The band made the announcement during a show at the 250-capacity Cafe Wha? in New York, where the classic rock act debuted one new song, "She's The Woman". It was their first show since reuniting with singer David Lee Roth for a tour in 2007/08. According to Henne Music, the song was written more than 30 years ago for a demo produced by Gene Simmons in 1976. Riffs from the original version later made it to the song "Mean Street" from the 1981 "Fair Warning" album. Van Halen setlist at Caf Wha? in New York, January 5 2012: 01. You Really Got Me 02. Why is david wearing overalls? I expected something flamboyant.... Like a sailor suit complete with a captains hat.... Or the skin of a black bear

yum center? **** yes, that's the first time a good show kicks off in louisville, i'm only a half hour from that place, i might buy tickets. and she's the woman? Sammy Hagar was actually right, there was an article on here of him saying that the new songs weren't actually new. Just demos from the 70's with Gene Simmons. still that kicks ****ing ass because those songs although just demos were awesome as hell

I think they are smart for re-working old songs that were unreleased or never properly finished and passing them off as new. Everybody knows that 98% of bands that have been around a long time, and are past their prime usually put out mediocre albums when they are further along in their career and life. They realize that most likely if they wrote completely new songs that they may be decent, but not anywhere near the greatness of their first few albums with Roth. I don't blame them and look forward to hearing the album. "She's the Woman" sounds pretty damn good for being low quality and live.

Sounds like they're still using Michael Anthonys pre-recorded backing vocals
