Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante and his wife Sandra were arrested late last week on charges relating to domestic violence.

Benante, who is currently recovering from a hand injury that has forced him to miss the latest leg of Anthrax's world tour, was arrested late on Friday night (July 27) and was taken into custody in Elkhart, Indiana after he and his wife allegedly argued in front of their young daughter Mia at the Hilton Garden Inn hotel.

The pair were released on Saturday (July 28) after spending the night in jail and will now appear in court on Friday (August 3) to answer the charges, reports local news outlet WSBT.com.

Anthrax, who are currently touring alongside Slipknot and Slayer on the traveling Mayhem Festival with Shadows Fall drummer Jason Bitner standing in on drums, have yet to comment on the charges Benante is facing.

Anthrax will return to the UK in November for a joint UK tour with Motorhead. The metal veterans will play 10 UK shows together in November, starting at Wolverhampton Civic Hall on November 5 and running until November 18 when the bands play Bristol's Colston Hall.

Anthrax released their new album "Worship Music" in September of last year. It was the band's first album for eight years and their first with singer Joey Belladonna since 1990's "Persistence Of Time".

Thanks to NME for the report.

Either that or Anerica really is that sensitive now.

That's what I thought too. I looked around a bit and apparently they were charged with "domestic battery in front of a child". None of the reports say if anything got physical. I hope they didn't and I feel sorry for their kid for having seen the argument, which must have been pretty bad if the cops got involved.

Yeah, it sucks to argue in front of your children, but come on, be arrested for that? Seriously? Besides, correct me if I'm wrong, but the guy just lost his mother a couple of months ago. Cut him some ****ing slack.

Man, that's news I wasn't expecting especially from a guy like Charlie... or any of the Anthrax guys for that matter haha

Damn... I hope this is just an isolated incident. Charlie usually seems like a cool guy. In fact, all of the guys in Anthrax seem like grounded, chilled out guys.

I know this is inappropriate, but I can't resist. Sounds like they live in a madhouse. Or so they say...

I live in the county they were arrested in and the cops here have their noses up everyone's ass!! Chances are someone heard what they wanted and called! People here aren't happy until they see someone get arrested!! That's why we call it Hell-kart!

This is not uncommon. This happens to people a lot. There will probably be a restraining order attached to it too because that's standard procedure. My advice avoid confrontations with your other half not because you're whipped but because this is screwed up and the fighting isn't worth it.

Yah, why does Charlie have a bandage around his head? It ain't a headband!
