As I Lay Dying broke their online silence started after singer Tim Lambesis' murder-for-hire arrest with a confusing post about an eBay guitar auction.
Post featuring a guitar supposedly used for "Within Destruction" track recording was instantly dubbed highly inappropriate by the fans, as well as guitarist Phil Sgrosso who called it ridiculous.
Before both posts were deleted, official As I Lay Dying page wrote several responses to Sgrosso's status, saying that "Phil's faulty memory should be discussed internally and not on the internet. Would make sense to check before causing drama."
"No one is trying to be fishy here, the intention was simply to let people who might be interested know," read one of the comments. "I hope those trying to stir up drama over something simple will eventually see that."
Tim Lambesis is currently on trial for allegedly hiring an undercover police officer to murder his estranged wife Meggan. His arrest took place on May 7 in Ocenside after he allegedly gave the man referred to as "Red" an envelope containing $1,000, a pass key to the house gate and specific murder details. His next court appearance is scheduled for September 16.
"Some day I will be able to tell the story of all that has happened in detail to get the facts straight and representing the many sides to this fairly complex story," Lambesis said. "In the meantime, many of you will make your assumptions and take the sensationalism of the press focusing on selling points at face value. I can't stop that from happening, and I've learned something by not having that kind of control."
