Bon Jovi Responds To Green Day: We've Never Even Played Together!

Richie Sambora says he doesn't remember playing with Billie Joe and co - but apologises if they had "a bad time".

Bon Jovi's Richie Sambora has responded to Green Day's accusation that they are the "worst band" they've ever toured with.

Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong slammed the '80s icons earlier this month when he claimed they were no fun to share the stage with but, in an interview with Rolling Stone, Sambora claimed he had no recollection of ever joining forces with the power punk trio on the road.

When confronted with Armstrong's statement, he replied: "I have no idea what happened with that, I actually don't recall them opening for us". He then added: "Either I was incapacitated at that point or I just don't remember it. I'm sorry he had such a bad time".

Over the weekend, Armstrong hit the headlines when he checked himself into rehab for substance abuse treatment two days after an onstage meltdown during the band's performance at iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas.

A statement published on Green Day's website read: "Billie Joe is seeking treatment for substance abuse. We would like everyone to know that our set was not cut short by Clear Channel and to apologise to those we offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas. We regretfully must postpone some of our upcoming promotional appearances".

The singer launched a foul-mouthed tirade at the end of the band's gig in Las Vegas gig on September 21. Believing that the band only had one minute of their slot remaining, Armstrong yelled: "Oh f--k this sh-t. I'm gonna play a f---ing new song. F--k this shit. Give me a f---ing break. One minute left. You're gonna give me one f---ing minute?"

Armstrong concluded his outburst by smashing his guitar on the stage and aiming a parting shot at the audience, stating: "One minute. God f---ing love you all. We'll be back."

Last month the band announced a huge UK stadium show for next summer. The trio will headline London's 60,000 capacity Emirates Stadium on June 1, 2013. Tickets for the show will go onsale at the end of this month on September 28.

Thanks to NME for the report.

It was not a was getting pissed and expressing his anger at cutting short Green Day's set for one of today's ridiculous music-industry-created-lip-sync-cash-cows Usher. You go Billie!
Love Green Day, hate Usher... I thought I should get this out of the way before I say that Billy is the same cash-cow when he agrees to play in a gig between Rihanna and Usher, being introduced by Demi Lovato. What the hell was he doing there in the first place? Trying to get a piece of the shitty pie all the music-industry-created-lip-sync-cash-cows have been eating...
calling usher ones of todays artists isn't really correct. his first album came out only a year after green days first album AND he started a year before the band formed. also green day are as much pop as he is, they're just pop targeted at teenage boys trying to be rebels rather than girls.
    Wow, my 1st gold medal. I'd like to thank...wait a minute...what the $#%^ do you #@$%ing mean I only have 1 @#$%ing minute for my @%$^ing speech!
    The set wasn't cut short.
Was the set actually cut short? Please enlighten me.
The set WAS cut short. What Green Day said was that it was not cut short BY iHeartRadio or ClearChannel. It was the stage managers that did it.
From what it looked like to me, even though the set was not cut short, they probably did have to agree to shorten the set to accommodate some kind of time restriction because it was a festival.
From what I know Usher played his set previously and went 20 minutes over his allotted time. In order to compensate for that they took time away from Green Day so the schedule would still be on track.
I'm not a fan of Green Day, but a meltdown? No, that was stating a fact. Remember Kony 2012? (Probably not) Jason Russel's rampage naked on an intersection, now that was a f^ckin meltdown.
I don't know what Billy John is talking about, i saw Bon Jovi live once, and lost my virginity in one of the most intense mosh pits I've ever experienced. Crazy shit!
its kind of amazing how one useless comment can become such a big deal. he was asked in an interview and he probably couldn't think of that many bands that weren't fun to tour with, so he named bon jovi, for not being as fun as he thought they'd be. its not like he came out and was like "Bon Jovi sucks" for no reason. i mean he's claimed to dislike hair metal of any variety before, maybe thats what he meant
Well Bon Jovi's response wasn't very extreme either, so I wouldn't call it a big deal.
ive seen both bon jovi and green day live and i have to say, out of all the gigs ive ever seen, bon jovi was by far the worst, absolutly no atmosphere in the place at all, yes i do know that they are a legendary band and i do love their stuff but theyre terrible live, no energy at all, it was just a dead day on the other hand were amazing live, full of energy, they really connected with the crowd and there was great atmosphere, thats the kind of thing i look for in gigs
Well Usher has been going since 1987 so hardly one of today's, plus Greeen Day aren't cash cows?
You know what green day is awesome and i dont care what all those other retards have to say about green day that "meltdown" shows that billie dosent take shit
When would they have toured together? An old meets young tour or some lame shit like that?
Yawn.... I wonder if Skid Row ever had a bad experience with them.
they had enough of their own in Sebastian. there wasn't any time to worry about other bands
