You might be surprised to hear that a music fan would risk life and limb to see Nickelback perform, but that's what happened when one man fell 40 feet down a gorge while trying to sneak into one of their live shows.
"An individual who appeared to be intoxicated, and who was outside the venue, apparently lost his footing and slipped down the embankment that runs along SPAC's Route 50 parking lot," said a representative of the venue.
His drunk footing caused him to step over the edge of the Geyser Brook Gorge where he fell 40 feet, but was lucky enough to only suffer bruises and cuts. Firefighters soon came to the rescue with a basket to carry him out.
Let that be a lesson: beer and Nickelback don't mix.
Of course, it's easy to slam Nickelback for being a fairly pedestrian mainstream rock band. Really, it is. But they know how to deflect criticism, sometimes with a brilliant sense of humor that we can only applaud.
Frontman Chad Kroeger says the band have fun coming up with ways to respond to their haters. "It's just like when you got guys all sitting around together, you know, we'll hear about something and, you know, we laugh. Whoever comes up with the most comedic thing, it's like, 'Oh, that's good. We have to tweet that.'"
