Floating 'Yellow Submarine' Hotel Opens In Liverpool
A floating hotel, based on The Beatles song and film "Yellow Submarine", has opened in Liverpool. The 80ft narrowboat hotel on Albert Dock opened at the weekend. It can accommodate up to eight people and is the brainchild of a businessman called Alfie Bubbles, reports the Daily Mail. The narrowboat previously belonged to Paramount Studios and was used in the film "The Hunt For The Red October". The hotel has three bedrooms and a lounge, which contains a scooter used in the film "Quadrophenia". Rooms cost £149 - £350 a night. Earlier this year, the 1968 animated movie and accompanying album which inspired the floating hotel, was restored and re-released. The team behind the release decided against the usual practice of using automated software to digitally clean up the film. Instead, due to the "delicate nature of the hand-drawn original artwork", the team updated the film frame-by-frame. "Yellow Submarine", based on the song by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, follows the Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, as they travel to a city under the sea to confront the music hating Blue Meanies. Thanks for the report to NME.com.
