In a bizarre string of events, Joanne Mjadzelics, ex-girlfriend of former Lostprophets singer and condemned pedophile Ian Watkins, was charged with possession and distribution of child pornography.
As Wales Online reports, the Crown Prosecution Service noted that there's "sufficient evidence and it is in the public interest" to charge Ms. Mjadzelics.
Joanne is now charged with four counts of possession of an indecent image, two counts of distributing an indecent image and one count of encouraging another to distribute an indecent image.
"May I remind all concerned that Joanne Mjadzelics has a right to a fair trial," stressed Senior Crown Prosecutor Suzanne Thomas. "It is very important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings. For these reasons, it would be inappropriate for me to comment further."
As previously reported, Joanne claimed warning police about Watkins' pedophilia years ago, but couldn't get the authorities to react. "Everything changed for us when he confided in me that he wanted to abuse children in 2008," she said. "I went straight to South Wales police then and made a complaint but they ignored me and said I needed evidence. I warned them this man was a danger to young kids but I think they thought I was just a trouble maker."
Mjadzelics has been bailed to appear before Cardiff Magistrates' Court on March 21.
