Iron Maiden are halfway through the North American portion of their "Maiden England World Tour." The trek will hit more than 30 cities before it wraps up on August 18 in Houston, TX. The tour closely mirrors, in terms of production and content, the original 1988 concert video of the same name, shot on the "Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son Tour." On Thursday, Maiden rolled into Indianapolis for a show at the Klipsch Music Center, along with tour mate Alice Cooper. During their headlining set, Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson busted a fan for not paying attention. "Oh, for f**k's sake, the man the white shirt, you've been texting for the last three f**king songs! You're a wanker!," said Dickinson to wild applause at the opening of "Wasted Years." Maiden begin a series of dates in Western Canada on Thursday in Calgary.

Well that guy wasted one place on Iron Maiden concert while another person could enjoy there.

lololololol funny shit. But kinda uncalled for, he's being silly for missing the show but there's no need to call that in front of thousands of people. He paid for it, therefore he does what the hell he wants as long as he doesn't screw the concert up.

There are lots of reasons why that guy could have been texting instead of watching the show during that period, that is a really shitty reaction. I could give examples that would probably sound unlikely, still Bruce should have thought before reacting like that. I'm surprised that Bruce pays that much attention to the crowd though.

Tbh if you need to have a conversation that is serious enough to warrant not playing attention to a gig you payed money to attend you would go outside and continue it on the phone

I find it hilarious how bros are always texting girls every second of the day in the hopes of getting laid, even if it means missing Maiden...

I'll be sure not to pull my phone out tomorrow when I see them! Not that I would be wasting my time texting while Iron ****ING Maiden is on stage anyways.

Why the **** would a person text on Iron Maiden concert. And why so close to the stage so he could see him. Get the **** back give the others room to enjoy the Iron Maiden.

What could you be texting someone that's more important than watching one of the best live bands ever? Wait til after the show dude.

I thought only people who work at Metal shows wear white so they can stand out from the fans... It would be hilarious if that guy was using his phone to tell his boss that they ran out of inventory and then the boss hears Bruce's rant!!! :-D

Iron Maiden (Bruce at least) have been doing this for years, in the autobiography, it mentions Bruce did this in the 70s before Iron Maiden, where he'd berate patrons in pubs for not paying attention, he looked people in the eyes in the audience and singled them out

I was at a Dream Theater concert a couple of months ago and the lady standing next to me literally did nothing but text for the entire show. I kid you not she didn't look up once the entire time. It was kind of funny, though, because one of the theater attendants thought she was taking pictures/video and pulled her to the side for 15 minutes or so.

The great thing about Bruce is when he says stuff like this live he doesn't even miss a beat

I think everyone is completely missing the point here. He wasn't making any kind of comment about how you "shouldn't text during rock concerts", or anything like that. He's just making fun of the type of person who everyone knows, that spends all their time sucked into their smart phones, ignoring everything social and the rest of the world around them. Thats all.

He shouted "YOU'RE A WANKER". I feel bound to point out: That's an insult.

How can someone not love this? He didn't insult anyone, it fits with how Bruce is great at getting the crowed into the shot and it means he actually cares about what people do at their shows! Their playing their ass off putting on a great show and his texting for 3 songs.. Maiden could easily tour less, and waste a lot less money on the production of their shows and start just going through the motions instead of having fun, clearly enjoying playing live and most importantly waiting people how go their to participate and have fun!! But I guess people would of rather he called the show off and stormed off stage or maybe jumped at the guy and took his phone away?

Disagree. Metal isn't about what clothes you wear. Metal is something so f**cking good that you don't text while you listen it. Agree on that one. .

worlds greatest live band. partly cause bruce's an intertainer. i dont think there were anyone texting. its just to get people fired up even more. it makes for a great show.

My Exodus 'Exhibit B: The Human Condition' tour shirt with the bloody grenade is a white shirt and definitely one of my favourite metal shirts to wear. White can be metal.

Seems a bit unjust. The guy wasnt doing anyone else any harm maybe he didnt care for the songs they were playing at that particular time.

I would say the exact opposite! Maiden is awesome, but Bruce is just being a prick! Who gives a **** if the guy is texting?!?! Maybe he wasn't paying attention, but maybe he was talking to a friend about how f**king amazing the show was or something like that...either way he's still at your show and showing his support in that way. Way to alienate a fan! If the guy was starting a fight or something, then call him out, but not for that!

I bet the comments here would be completely different if the band wasn't Iron Maiden. Unfortunately, the only person being a 'wanker' in this situation is Bruce.

I have no problem with this, if you're not paying attention you shouldn't be there. Though it doesn't quite compare to the guy I saw FALL ASLEEP on the shoulder of the guy in front of him whilst at Warbringer/ Anaal Nathrakh/ Testament. Thankfully, security hauled him out of there.

Actualluy, one of my favourite shirts at the moment is my white Gojira shirt.

Sir Bruce, please don't take your band to f*****g Prague... if you did that in there, they might and will find a way to put you behind bars for whatever reason they can think of.

I really don't get it. Good for Bruce for calling the guy out. No need to be texting during Iron Maiden. When I saw them a few days ago, the only thing I was doing aside from watching them play was take pictures every once in a while. It's a show you just can't miss.

I've never texted incessantly during a show. I'm not about to start. Now, okay, it's easy to criticize Bruce for this because he singled out an inactive, uninterested audience member to the entire audience. But I could chalk it up to something like adrenaline on stage, a need to get everyone moving, getting carried away. It's happened to me before. Besides, I don't go to shows to text. I go to shows to rock out.

I think it ties into a lot of the critiscm thats been going on towards audiences. Atleast in Denmark, artists and concert goers have been complaining that theres too many people talking during sets. In that context, it kinda makes sense. Still pretty funny though .

He could have been texting about a family emergency or something urgent. Iron Maiden isn't the most important thing in the world.
    kLeft
It's funny he said that for the start of their cheesiest, poppiest 80's dance tune. "PAY ATTENTION...to this shit song." If I was there for that song I'd be all over my game of Angry Birds.
    Salvo416
The first four letters in his last name seem to fit him quite well here. If the guy texts during a concert and misses your song thats your problem.. least you got the money from his ticket!

    No to that.

Pretty petty stuff here. But the kid paid his money and maybe Bruce overreacted a bit.

Mr Bruce, remain to just sing the songs, which most of them, you don't even write. Thank you.

Bruce can be a bot of dick at times but his heart is in the right place. For what it is worth my Iron Maiden FC t-shirt this year is white! You can wear what you want, look like you want, be of any sex, race or relgion.... I don't care. Just enjoy the show and don't spoil it for others if you don't. I can't understand anyone texting during a gig, let alone Maiden, but hell I'm from a different generation. Each to their own.
    Stratcat70
Funny cause I have an original WHITE Iron Maiden tour shirt from 1988 Seventh Son tour. I was going to wear it since tailgating in the parking lot all day in the hot sun sucks in a black shirt. Glad I didn't, might've called me out. No way was I texting at the show though.
    the_modfather
Bruce is allowed to say this because he's such a nice guy and only 'breaks' when someone does something ridiculous. I've texted at gig but not during a song, never at a Maiden gig too!

Exactly, the dukes stuff is some of the best thrash stuff i've ever heard, recent Exodus is much better than recent Megadeth/Metallica/Anthrax.

I can't think of a more fitting word to describe the guy. Big fan of Maiden. Not so much of Bruce, but I think he nailed it on this one.
    Randomrings
I'm a pretty big Maiden fan for a stupid teenager. I've seen a lot of interviews from a lot of different eras and I went to see them live before The Final Frontier released. If Bruce noticed the guy texting that much, then he was texting way too much. But now I'm going to feel really bad when the next UG article is like "Dickinson slams fan while texting dying wife: Fan loses the love of his life and Maiden frontman loses his shiznit"

I'm with Bruce on this one, why the hell would you text during a show? Especially through 3 songs! Honestly, I ****ing hate seeing bands when everyone in front of me is holding a phone up taking videos/photos aswell, that's even more annoying. Not to mention the videos always come out shit! Thankfully, I'm usually near the front of the crowd.
