Men's Wearhouse Apologizes To Dave Mustaine

Men's Wearhouse, has apologized to Dave Mustaine for the delay in delivering the gift certificate he purchased for the band's tour manager.

Men's Wearhouse, the U.S.-based men's dress apparel retailer, has apologized to Megadeth mainman Dave Mustaine for the delay in delivering the gift certificate he purchased for the band's tour manager, Blabbermouth reports.

In a December 28 note on Megadeth's Facebook page, Mustaine detailed his recent trouble with the chain, writing: "I know that not all of you have the kind of job that requires a suit, or wear a suit when you (if you) go to any kind of faith-based service, court date, wedding or funeral, but if you doyou are going to want to read this. You know me, I don't complain much in writing, but I gotta get this off my chest.

"A few days before Christmas, I purchased a gift certificate from the Men's Warehouse [sic] in Salt Lake City, Utah as a gift for our awesome tour manager Jim Carroccio. You know the Men's Warehouse [sic]... the old geezer with the voice that sound like he has chain-smoked since he was a fetus; the one that espouses, 'I absolutely guarantee you're gonna like the way you look,' or some manure like that, right?

"Well, I was talking to Jim today and wondering why he didn't say anything (I think we all wonder sometimes when our loved ones or friends get gifts if they actually like them) and it turns out that they decided to hold my order, otherwise called by them as 'pending', and told no one. For almost 9 days now, I have been waiting for delivery of this gift certificate, and I wouldn't say anything because it IS the holidays, but these salesmen promised that they would GUARANTEE a two-day delivery of the certificate to Jim (it seems they throw this word GUARANTEE around quite a lot).

"So, we called and asked what happened and they have no explanation whatsoever, they didn't care, and when we asked if they were going to do anything to remedy this, they made no effort whatsoever for this mix-up... although they did promise me the same GUARANTEE that they gave me when I bought it; that is that they will send it 'two-day delivery,' but I already was promised this. Maybe they mean 12-day delivery.

"I really think that it sucks when people make false claims, that they don't care to make good on a problem that is clearly their fault, and with all of the 'ABSOLUTELY GUARANTEE IT' crap I just had to say something. We are all living in very tight financial times right now, and like I said, you may not wear a suit for your job or for an event or occasion, but if you do, I would strongly recommend you wear someone else's suits. Go to JoS A. Bank instead. I for one, will never set foot in a Men's Warehouse [sic], even for shelter from a blizzard. I absolutely GUARANTEE it."

On January 2, Men's Wearhouse responded to Mustaine via Megadeth's Facebook page, admitting that the delay in processing the order was "unacceptable" and standing by its promise to "deliver world-class customer service".

"Dave, thanks for reaching out to us on Facebook," Joe of the Men's Wearhouse "social media team" wrote. "We apologize for the delay in receiving your gift card and agree that the delay is unacceptable. Customer satisfaction is our highest priority and we stand by our guarantee to deliver world-class customer service. So, we'd like to speak with you about a solution but are having some trouble reaching you since we last connected on 12/28. Please send your contact info to and our team will help you right away."

    I, personally, enjoy watching Dave making an insufferable asshat out of himself.
    He's making an asshat out of himself because he (most likely) gave a company that claims to have outstanding customer service several thousand dollars and they treated him like shit? You, sir, are the asshat here.

    Because it's a Dave Mustaine **SLAM!** article. The guys at UG have a serious hard on for this guy.
    The reason it's carried here (and elsewhere) is because Dave himself decided to make his beef public. He obviously thinks there are all sorts of types whose interests revolve around what he thinks and does. So he writes a big, borderline anti-Semitic rant on his FB page and figures that if his day was ruined, then naturally so is everyone else's (at least those who matter) . . .

    Doubt it. I love Megadeth and Dave but most people don't know who he (or they) are. Unless the manager is an old metal head like me or a guitar player who loves metal I'm sure they had no clue until the story caught on via social media. Unfortunately, Megadeth and Mustaine haven't really been in the spotlight for about 20 years.

You can't order something a couple of days before Christmas and expect to get it by the Holidays, even if there is a guarantee. This is something regular people know. As for the poor customer service...god, why am I even spending any more time thinking about this? I'm so sick of this guy. It's a good thing he's one hell of a guitarist.

    I agree with Dave (OMG, did I really just write that?) If a vendor promises to deliver in X days, then they should deliver in X days. Many years ago I bought something from Musicians Friend and paid a bunch for FedEx overnight delivery. Took the next day off work so I could sign for the package and it never arrived. I called back Musicians Friend and told them what happened. They said it was because my order was processed after 12 noon and they were sorry. I thanked them for the explanation and apology, but said I still paid for overnight shipping that didn't happen. They refunded my shipping charge and everything was good...I've continued to buy from them to this day.
    I've been happy with all my purchases from Musicians Friend so far, and I've been shopping from them for a number of years. Their service has been as I would hope for, and their pricing is reasonable. I would definitely recommend the site to anyone looking to buy gear online. The fact that they fixed their is error is a big one. Most retailers I've dealt with when they screw up, they blame it on you and leave the cost up to you as well. Good on them.
    I disagree with this being "news" on UG, but I'm with you here. Dave ordered something with the expectation from MW that it would be there by Christmas. They hadn't made any action to correct their error. His status as a celebrity sure helped him get this out there. I'm gonna say that Dave is totally in the right with this. I'm glad he's finally getting the service he paid for.

    It really doesn't matter, because they made a guarantee that it would be there in 2 days. You can't do that as a company and then expect people to not be mad when you don't follow through because "you shouldn't have expected that they could keep such a guarantee during Christmas time." I don't ever agree with anything Dave says but he is completely in the right here, and I don't know if people are disagreeing with them just because it's popular to hate what he says or because they're really that ignorant about how good business works. It's a basic rule that it's bad business as a company to promise a customer something and then not follow through with it, and it's even worse business to not compensate that customer if the guarantee is not followed through with. They ****ed up twice and Dave was right to call them out for it.

    Yup. Agree. For once I'm on Dave's side - they knew it was Christmas and a busy time of year. They made that guarantee (effectively a promise) to him. They should keep that promise, or give him some form of compensation and a public apology.

I ordered some stuff the other day and it took way longer than I expected, but I didn't complain because what will that do? Also, I'm sure insulting the guy on the commercial should certainly help his little Dave Brigade on this company man just **** him. Nothing says "Aging Undeserving Of Fame Rocker" more than complaining about delayed shipment of something so trivial as a ****ing gift card. Did their manager even care?

    They shouldn't have promised him a 2 day delivery then. They knew what day it was when he placed the order - the fault is still on them. Also, by the sounds of it, he did go into the store and purchase it. The store was in charge of mailing it to the recipient.

    Haha, How come Dave Mustaine is allowed to receive customer satisfaction but his organization doesn't promote it. Dave Mustaine deserves to be screwed more often for the way his organisation has treated the fans at the 2nd year of the Gigantour Tour in detroit. Many people paid for a photo with Megadeth and these photos were magically lost. But the difficulting in getting the money back, or even an appology ended up with me being banned from everything the Megadeth Organization could. Leaving me with no ways of even finding out how to be reimbursed. Atleast Dave McRobb is a nice guy, but still Dave, could you run your organization so it didn't screw the fans and then make it miserable for your fans after. I hope Karma comes back to Dave one day.
    That sounds really shitty. It's always frustrating when the organization screws up, but leaves the client on the hook for the bill for their errors. It's even worse because when you made an effort to either get reimbursed or have the issue resolved YOU were the one punished.
