Noel Gallagher: 'I'll Reunite Oasis for Half a Billion Pounds - or Half a Billion Condoms'

Pot noodles or Yorkshire Tea bags would also do the trick.

Noel Gallagher has joked he would reform Oasis for £500 million - or 500 million condoms.

The singer made the comments when appearing on Talksport on April 28, as reported by Digital Spy (via NME).

Asked about the speculation over an Oasis reunion, Gallagher said: "I was in the newsagent the other day when the story broke and the Daily Star said, 'Oasis to get back together for £500 million', which is half a billion."

"I'd do it for half a billion anything: Yorkshire Tea bags, condoms, Pot Noodles."

Rumours of a Gallagher brothers reunion began to spread after Liam Gallagher tweeted the letters "O A S I S" and a further tweet which read "OASIS LG" last Thursday night (April 24). Bookmakers Paddy Power and Ladbrokes then suspended betting on the possibility of the band reforming and headlining Glastonbury, where the final headliner is yet to be revealed.

However, Ex Oasis guitarist Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs told NME Gallagher's tweets may have been posted simply because the former bandmates went out for a drink together. Asked what Gallagher's tweets could have meant, Bonehead said: "Probably the fact that I texted him going, 'Meet me in the beer garden.' That probably rattled his cage. Maybe that. I don't know though, because I meet him every f--king month. Maybe he's just reminiscing."

"£500 million, which is half a billion." Thank you for making that clear, Noel. I wasn't sure about that.
A billion in England is officially a million million, as opposed to a thousand million in the US. However, over the last couple of decades, there has been a shift in the UK to using a thousand million to be a billion.
Well it is in terms of money but not a true billion as in the number.
Please explain to me how the **** it's different..
A thousand million, in terms of cash, is a billion. Otherwise, for science and mathematics, a billion is a million million. Depends on country too though.
To be fair, most English speaking countries use short-scale millions as standard as far as I know.
Really? I think you are mistaken. In science, a billion is denoted by the prefix giga, which is 10^9, which is 1,000,000,000, which you'll recognise as a thousand million. EDIT cf age of universe, given as ~14bn years = 14x10^9 years (google it). Check and mate.
It's a difference between the American English and British English definition. Technically the British English definition of a billion is a million million and the American English definition is a thousand million. The British definition has adapted to mean the same as the American English definition over the years though. The same thing applies to trillion as well.
If someone starts a kickstarter, I'll donate a few boxes of Doms to the cause. I don't need them.
Somebody make this happen. Not because I want Oasis to be reunited, but because I want to see how he reacts to receiving half a billion condoms.
Saving up my durex now. I may end up an unexpected father but it'll be worth it seeing Oasis reunite :p
I'll only believe that Oasis reunited 2 months after they play. You just cant be sure what the fck these guys are doing
I'd do it for half a billion anything? What about half a billion of nothing ?
Half a billion of nothing isn't half a billion of anything though, is it?
Half a billion condoms would cost 62,500,000 (my average box was 8.00). So Britian, if you are looking to save money
I'm half tempted to actually do it. Start a campaign called "Condoms for c*nts"
I Will also reunite Oasis for the same Fee though it's no the same coming from me... There is no need to Reunite. They went out on a high just like The Jam.
So... I was unaware that a billion was ever anything other than a thousand millions, to anyone, anywhere. Thanks internet!
He should of asked for the luckiest number in the world which is 700 Billion
That's not half a billion.. that's 500,000,000.00 (Five thousand million.) Half a billion is 5,000,000,000,000. Well dependent on where you're from and whether you use short or long scale. Pretty sure here in the UK though we've always used long scale for billions. He should definitely try push for long scale.
