A Russian politician has hit out at Madonna online, implying that the star is a "slut", following her recent support for jailed punk band, Pussy Riot.
Perhaps even worse, he also implies the singer is old.
Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin took to the social networking site on Wednesday to say:
"With age, every former s. tries to lecture everyone on morality," using the first letter of the word "slut" in his tweet.
At a recent gig in Moscow, Madonna removed her top to reveal she had Pussy Riot written across her back, and continued to sing "Like a Virgin" whilst wearing the band's trademark balaclava.
Madoona praised the bravery of the three women, and prayed for their freedom. Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, Maria Alyokhina and Yekaterina Samutsevich are facing a three year stint in jail, accused of hooliganism motivated by religious hatred after they performed the anti-Putin track "Punk Prayer" in a cathedral in Moscow.
The crowd at Madonna's showed cheered in support of her gesture, and one fan has even taken to Twitter to challenge the Rogozin, writing: "She spoke about freedom, it's government officials that lecture us every day on all the state channels". Rogozin replied by writing: "Either take off the cross or put on [under]pants."
At tonight's gig in St Petersburg, Madonna has said that she intends to issue some form of protest against the cities laws against homosexual propaganda.
Thanks to Gigwise for the report.
