IMPORTANT UPDATE: Scott just posted a video from the studio, shooting down rumors and hinting at a TMZ lawsuit. Original article and the new clip can be found below.

Former Stone Temple Pilots vocalist Scott Weiland was reportedly arrested for stealing razors from a Beverly Hills drug store, which served only as an introduction for a more severe offense - meth possession.

As TMZ reports, the police has confirmed that Scott went to Bev Hills Rite-Aid late last month and "pilfered some razors and other cosmetic items." Once arrested by the officers, he supposedly tried to pull a "celeb card" by saying "I'm Scott Weiland from Stone Temple Pilots."

Obviously it didn't work, as Weiland's supposedly been spending the past four weeks in jail with a $95,000 bond.

Furthermore, the vocalist was charged with burglary and not just regular theft since he had allegedly entered the store with an "insulated" bag that prevents sensors from going off, meaning that he had an intention to steal the mentioned items.

UPDATE: However, a look at Scott's Facebook page puts a few doubts on this report (as noted, it's TMZ). Over the past few weeks, during the time that Weiland's supposedly been spending in jail, a series of personal photos was posted, mostly from the singer's younger days. Most of the posts were written in first person, meaning that either somebody else presented them on Scott's behalf, or he did some Facebooking behind bars.

UPDATE August 22: The guys on Blabbermouth followed the matter very closely, here's a few updates that emerged so far: "According to the web site of The Lost Angeles County Sheriff's Department, a 46-year-old male by the name of Scott Klein Weiland, born on October 27, 1967, with a height of 6' 1" and weighing 175 pounds, was arrested on July 26 at 10:13 a.m. and charged with a felony. He is scheduled to appear in court on August 26. You can also find the arrest report at this location. (Note: The former STP singer was born Scott Richard Kline on October 27, 1967.)"

"TMZ has posted an update on its original report, saying: "We just spoke to a rep for the L.A. County Sheriff's Dept. who tells us, 'He is definitely in custody. We did a physical check on that inmate and he is currently in custody.' And ... the Beverly Hills Police Dept. gave us a written statement titled 'Celebrity Arrest' and in the statement it says, 'The suspect, former Stone Temple Pilots band member Scott Weiland (46 years of age), was taken into custody for burglary and possession of a controlled substance.'"

"According to The Wrap, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department confirmed that the man they have in jail, who claimed to be former Stone Temple Piolots frontman Scott Weiland, is not him, despite their earlier assertions that he was.

"Earlier today, a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spokesperson told TheWrap: 'We confirmed that inside the jail is someone booked as Scott Klein Weiland. We confirmed that that person was there inside the jail. So that is what we confirmed. What we are trying to do now is to speak to the Beverly Hills Police Department to find out what the deal is. We are trying to find out what is going on with this.'

"Also earlier on Thursday, the Beverly Hills Police Department told TheWrap that they did have Scott Weiland in custody, identifying him definitively as the 'former lead singer of Stone Temple Pilots.'

"When asked if it was possible they had arrested someone who simply claimed to be Scott Weiland, but was not the Scott Weiland of STP fame, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department told TheWrap that it was a possibility."

And that's what happens when you use tmz UG, you **** up. But that's more of a normal day right?
Ok people talk crap about Scott but I've enjoyed, as have many of you, many STP songs and think this guy is just going straight off the deep end. He needs help and before its too late...Look at all the celebrities that have died this year and had been crying for help in some way and now their gone forever...Robin Williams, Philip Seymour Hoffman and even Odorius Ungerious(or whatever)...I hate meth and hard drugs in general but this guy has done a lot for a lot of people as far as music goes, people need to stop being so selfish and give this guy a hand before its too late...and it will be if no one intervenes.
Dude, he's been doing hard drugs since the mid-90s. I'm quite sure that people have tried to give him a hand countless times. Eventually, it led to separation from the rest of STP (twice!), divorce, etc., etc. When it comes to addiction, you can have all the help and intervention in the world. But if you don't want to help yourself, it's all a moot point.
He had both Slash and Duff trying to help him stay sober while he was in Velvet Revolver. If those two guys can clean up their act, Scott should've been able to. Especially if he had them to help him out. In the end he ****ed it all up and was kicked out of one of the biggest bands in the world. His own original band didn't even want anything to do with him. I saw STP before they parted ways with him and needless to say it was practically a side-show imitating itself with him still in the band. The guy half-assed it through his songs, showed up late and acted like he just didn't give a ****. He looked like he also weighed about 120 pounds. STP were glad to kick him out. Now with Chester as their new lead singer at least they have a fighting chance to stay relevant. I'm glad they're moving on. Scott Weiland is bad news, and I don't care if he thinks it's his band. People have been trying to give him a hand for years now.
This guy has serious problems, let's hope this is a turning point.
He was on Howard Stern a few years back talking about how he was raped as a little boy and didn't remember it until he was something like 35 (probably why he has a drug problem)...I actually feel really bad for him, right now he's the embodiment of self-destruction
I think it's important to point out his Bipolar Disorder. He has gone on record stating that he willingly does not take medication for this. I'm sure that and along with any childhood issues contributed not only to this but probably to conflicts within the band as well.
Scott just posted on his facebook page that the story was false and that he was notifying his attorneys.
You do realize that he probably never even touches his facebook page, right? I guarantee you it is run by someone in management.
He really needs to do some hard time. Maybe get some rehab while he's in there and have some time to get his head straight.
Or you know, he's got a publicist or someone working damage control who posts things for him, because he's an idiot with an image problem. Doesn't surprise me though. He was kicked out a band who's other members were KNOWN for their drug consumption, and even THEY'D had enough of his bullshit. Congratulations Scott Weiland, you had the world in the palm of your hands, playing with the other 3 quarters of the classic guns n roses line up and you managed to f*ck THAT up, I'm not surprised that you'd be caught stealing, too.
    Cunt's ****ed.
How'd you get away with **** but not ****? EDIT: What the f*ck's going on?!
I think it has something to do with the capital letter, if it starts with a capital letter it won't be censored, glitch maybe. You'd think they'd have caught it by now lmfao
No wonder he wanted to do festival gigs with VR...he needs that razor and meth money!
have you seen the price of razor blades at rite aid? you have to take out a loan to buy them. they are even in that plastic theft protection thing. can't blame the guy for stealing razors that cost more than a car payment heheheheh
That's so bizarre. I opened for him not even six weeks ago.
haha The comment below yours was written by a failure who has never accomplished anything in his life, not even a easy to obtain opening spot for a national act.
Seen him in concert at the beginning of July. Good show. He wasn't in prison overalls though.
Well, this is interesting. Was browsing through forums about it and found this info. **UPDATE #2**: According to the web site of The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, a 46-year-old male by the name of Scott Klein Weiland, born on October 27, 1967, with a height of 6' 01" and weighing 175 pounds, was arrested on July 26 at 10:13 a.m. and charged with a felony. He is scheduled to appear in court on August 26. You can also find the arrest report at this location. (Note: The former STONE TEMPLE PILOTS singer was born Scott Richard Kline on October 27, 1967.)
Hmmmm, now there's an update on that and the guy is in jail is someone claiming to be Weiland, but he's not. So confusing, right now. **UPDATE #4**: According to TheWrap, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department confirmed that the man they have in jail, who claimed to be former STONE TEMPLE PILOTS frontman Scott Weiland, is not him, despite their earlier assertions that he was.
Sad to see that he doesn't have what it takes to be a professional performer and to see a talent go to waste like this. Drug 'r bad... M'kay?
