Alvarez: PD80

Sound — 9
I played a $3,500 Taylor in the guitar shop that has a bright crisp sound and I was set on buying it but then I picked up this high end Alvarez and was sold on its looks and sound at once. The price difference is amazing for how close it sounds to a Taylor. I advise anyone who is looking for a great acoustic/electric to check this out.

Overall Impression — 9
I've been playing for 12 years and I am 25 with a taste for alternative and great songwriting. Rap, rock, even country as long as its fresh and smart I'll give it a try. This guitar I just bought is a fine piece of craftmanship, made in Korea.

Reliability & Durability — 9
Haven't had it that long, but it stays in tune very well and came w/tuner built in.

Action, Fit & Finish — 10
No flaws what so ever!

The Alvarez Professional Series. For those players seeking the perfect balance between sonic performance, and tasteful visual elegance. Solid Canadian spruce top, solid mahogany back and sides, scalloped bracing all provide a rich tone, with more projection. A compensated bridge for optimum intonation. Abalone headstock inlay and soundhole rosettes with herringbone body binding combine for a visual appeal to keep you pulling them from their cases to play. The System 600T pickup system has been called the most natural sounding of any acoustic preamp. Three band EQ with sweepable mid frequency, chromatic tuner, aux input for the ACM50 on-board condenser mic, or the ASP50 soundhole pickup. Because playing them is the whole idea. And the whole joy of it all. For the player seeking the perfect balance between sonic performance and visual elegance, the Alvarez PD80SC. Solid Engelmann spruce top, solid mahogany back, scalloped braces, abalone rosette, natural gloss finish, built in electronics. First class! - Back and sides: mahogany (solid back) - Binding: maple/herringbone - Bracing: scalloped spruce - Bridge/tremolo: rosewood - Fingerboard: 12th fret diagonal - Frets: 20 nickel frets - Hardware: gold Die-Cast - Inlays: 12th fret diagonal - Machine heads: Die-Cast - Neck joint: 14th fret - Neck material: mahogany - Top wood: solid engelmann spruce - scalloped bracing.
