TransAxe Telair VET-1 Review

Voyage-Air Guitar: TransAxe Telair VET-1
This is the best travel guitar I have ever seen though it's really not a travel guitar. When the neck is in the upright position, it performs like any standard electric.

This guitar can be taken on trips or where ever you want the convenience to take your guitar along with you. Guitar is made in China. It has 20 frets. Rosewood fingerboard. Has a Les Paul body style. String-thru body. Active pickups. Three way selector switch and a push/pull volume/tone control. Non-locking tuners. Standard tuners. Comes with DuraTrans case with extra compartments for storing your picks, strap and cable. // 10

Sound: I love rock 'n' roll and this guitar sounds great. I play mostly blues, rock and folk. I have quite a few analog vintage effects I play. Ibanez TS808, Boss DS-1, Vox 847 WahPro-Co. White Face RAT, Dunlop Fuze Face, Octavio, MXR Phase-90, MXR Carbon Copy, Xotic EP Booster, Boss/Fender 63' Reverb and Boss TU-3 Tuner. I play a '65 Fender Princeton Reverb Amp. Very rich/full sound. Not tinty at all. Guitar does not come with a whammy bar buy you can get some great sounds out of it. If you play rock 'n' roll this is a great guitar. // 10

Action, Fit & Finish: Guitar actions was set up great from the factory though I had it lowered a bit. Pickups were adjusted correctly. I did not need to reset them. Bridge and saddle were all lined up correctly. I did not need to tweak them. No flaws in the guitar. The finish is beautiful. Most guitars you have to work on them to get them to play right. Not with this one. It was set up correctly by a Luthier at Voyage-Air Guitar. I did not have to have any work done on it. I just lowered the action a bit because I like low action. // 10

Reliability & Durability: This guitar will withstand live performances. It is made very well. Strap buttons are tight and good. This is a very dependable guitar. You do not need to take a second guitar with you do to quality issues. The finish is perfect, no flaws in the wood, neck or fingerboard. If you travel a lot, this is a great guitar. Since the neck folds, you can take it on planes or where ever you need to have the freedom to travel. If you walk out your front door, you are in travel mode. Full scale, full body. Once the neck is in the playing position, it is like any other guitar. // 10

Overall Impression: This is the best travel guitar I have ever seen though it's really not a travel guitar. When the neck is in the upright position, it performs like any standard electric. This can be your main guitar. There is no reason to purchase another guitar. It feels very solid and well made. It is not light and is sold Alder. All of the Voyage-Air guitars are made in China but everyone of them is set up in California by a Luthier so when you receive your guitar, it is ready to play. I love the fact that I don't need to worry about the sound quality or playability. This is a keeper. // 10
