Sound — 10
The ESP LTD B-204FM NG bass is a great bass for deathcore/black metal/death metal style music, but is very suitable to other genres such as blues, rock, alternative, etc... I usually play this bas through a 2012 Acoustic B-15 bass amp, with the only effect being overdrive (which is built into this amplifier)! The bass I would say has a very rich bass punch that most people look for in basses these days! This bass like I said has a wide variety past from extreme metal stuff, this bass is made for variety, not just playing one genre!
Action, Fit & Finish — 9
This basses action is very good, not to high, not to low, yeah you get some buzzing here and there, but that's common with most guitars you buy used at public auctions! The pickups were well adjusted for it's age, you would expect this bass to fail pretty quick, but it was actually reliable this time. Everything is glued down right, screwed in correctly, nothing is loose, this bass is absolutely flawless except for the dents the people put in the bass over the years! Some issues are with the potentiometers, since they are gold satin finish, they seem to tarnish over time, but that's the only flaw in this bass!
Reliability & Durability — 10
This bass will withstand any condition you put it through, pretty much what you would expect from an ESP LTD instrument of this age, this includes the hardware and everything else! The ESP LTD B-204FM NG bass is very dependable, you can rely on it for any gig or event you play! The finish is very durable, ti doesn't seem to have any issues, only for the typical ones, but that's it! Even though the strap buttons on this bass are not locking, they seem to hold the strap you are wearing even longer that most basses of other brands!
Overall Impression — 10
I play deathcore/black metal/death metal type stuff, and this commodores these genres very well, it literally adheres to what your playing without any issues! I've been playing for about 2-3 years now, I own a 2010 Gibson SG Standard and a 2014 PRS Mike Mushok Signature Series Extended Range Baritone guitar, and this bass is absolutely beautiful and great to add to your collection passed from its rarity. If this bass was stolen or something else happened to it, I would cry for days over it, then go on a lifelong search for this bass again, I'M THAT MUCH IN LOVE WITH IT! I love how the pickups sound, and how much variety this bass has, it isn't just a pretty face, it's actually got balls! I compared it with my Ibanez SR-204 bass, the ESP LTD B-204FM NG bass beats in every aspect as a bass. This bass is PERFECT! It needs nothing else added to it to make it perfect, it already is!
