Sound — 8
Since I am a "novice" at playing bass, I have yet to establish a style of play. However, as I evolve, this beginners bass seems to be quite versitile. The 10 watt amp is by no means "thunderous", but is great for learning on though. The bass has one tone, and one volume control knob each. So the range is somewhat limited. But in my opinion, the sound is full enough, and wide enough, for the average beginner.
Overall Impression — 10
Speaking as a beginning bass player, for the money, this bass is a great match for me. And probably so, for most beginners. To compare it to other entry level bass guitars, it's comperable. What I like best about the Ibanez IJSB90 Jumpstart pack is is the overall quality of the bass, as well as all the extras it comes with. If it were ever to become lost or stolen, I would probably replace it with the same (just the guitar though). All in all, for the beginner, this package, for it's price and all the axtras, simply can't be beat. Rock on!
Reliability & Durability — 10
Though my experience's of playing bass Live are limited, I have lent the bass out to several friends. And other than the common complaint of the fret edges being a little sharp, they all agree the bass is durable enough to withstand a lot of "Live" playing. Reliability. So far the electronics, and the hardware are holding up just great. It's been a year now that I've owned the Ibanez IJSB90, and it has not let me down yet.
Action, Fit & Finish — 7
The factory "set-up" was average. Though, the action was a little "high". But with a slight adjustment of the bridge, this problem was soon remedied. The pick-ups work great, and the neck has needed no adjustment. I've only found flaw. Which is actually a series of flaws, the corners of the frets are somewhat sharp. Hopefully with some heavy use, these sharp corners will wear themselves down soon.

The Ibanez IJSB90 that I own was made and assembled, in the "Peoples Republic of China", in the year of our lord, 2008. The a is equipt with traditional Dual Coil, Ceramic Maglin, Humbucking/Passive electronics. The tuners are heavy duty, Ibanez, chrome plated non-locking ones. The extras that are included in this "Jump Start" package are many. *one 10 watt Ibanez Bass amp, an Ibanez electronic tuner, an Ibanez strap, an Ibanez gig-bag, an Ibanez accessory pouch, a 10' cable, an assortment of Ibanez picks, a set of HD201 Sennheiser Headphones and an instructional DVD, featuring Gerald Veasley at the helm.
