Schecter: CV-4

Sound — 9
This bass is versitle enough to play metal to jazz. I play mostly classic rock, metal and a lot of slapping like Victor Wooten style. The active pickups give the a high output to make a very full slap sound. When not playing and the amp is on a loud volume the pickups tend to be alittle noisy but not enough to notice when jamming or gigging.

Overall Impression — 10
If this bass was ever lost or stolen I would definitly buy it again. I compared this bass to Standard P-Basses and J-Basses, but the slap sound and overall tone of the J/P Basses just couldn't hold up compared to this Schecter. The thing I love the most about this bass is defintly the slap boost/cut switch, it allows me to slap with a great tone on just about any amp. I play with this bass on a BP80 pedal and a 20 watt CD200b Drive amp. I'm currently looking to upgrade the amp to a BT100 Crate combo. I would recomend this bass to intermediate to advanced bass players.

Reliability & Durability — 10
This bass is greta for gigging, jamming and practicing. Everything on it is solid. The strap mounts a solid, the hardware is well fastened using set screws and the finish on the body is thick enough and durable enough to last a liftime with the right care. This bass is the most dependable bass I've ever had, just remeber to change that pickup battery and your fine.

Action, Fit & Finish — 9
The factory setup was prettyy good on this bass. The action was a bit low which caused more then normal fret buzz but that was easyly fixed. The pickups were alittle high causing a very hot output but for the full slap sound that was not a problem. Depending on your style of playing will determine the pickup high on this bass. This bass was oringlly priced at around $500 but was marked down due to a finish chip on the bottom corner by the input. This was easly fixable and a great discount. All other fetures on this bass was flawless coming out of the factory.

The CV-4 has a 34" bolt-on neck (six bolts) with 24 mdeium jumbo frets. The neck is very comfortable thin maple neck with rosewood fretboard. This bass has a alder body with a sunburst finish. The pickups are active Duncan designed (modeled after the Semour Duncan pickups) humbucker in the bridge position and a single coil in the neck postion for the extra tone when slapping. This bass has 1 volume 1 blend and a 3 knob/band equalization and a cut/boost slap switch for that full tone when slapping/popping. All controls are chrome finsh.
